Abstract

L'invention a trait en général à des clubs de golf de type « bois » et « fer » améliorés. Selon l'invention, la plaque avant améliorée de tête de club de golf est caractérisée en ce qu'elle comporte de multiples couches et est dotée de cavités. De plus, elle est constituée de feuilles d'alliage de titane obtenues par formage superplastique et soudage par pression, afin que l'on obtienne une structure possédant des revêtements et une matière de remplissage formant des nervures de renforcement. Le revêtement qui contient la surface de frappe de la balle possède une épaisseur variable, qui augmente de la périphérie au centre. L'invention concerne également un procédé de production de la plaque avant améliorée de tête de club de golf selon l'invention. Ledit procédé fait appel à au moins trois pièces à usiner faites de feuilles d'alliage de titane, l'une desdites pièces à usiner possédant une épaisseur variable. Ledit procédé consiste : à rassembler les pièces à usiner en un paquet, de façon que la pièce à usiner à épaisseur variable se trouve à l'extérieur ; à les joindre les unes aux autres par soudage par pression à des emplacements prédéfinis ; à étanchéifier la cavité les séparant ; et à la mouler dans une étampe au moyen d'un milieu actif, à une pression contrôlée pendant l'intervalle de température et de temps de la déformation superplastique, jusqu'à ce qu'une matière de remplissage possédant un profil donné soit formée à l'aide d'au moins une pièce à usiner interne, et à l'aide des pièces à usiner externes des revêtements. La pièce à usiner à épaisseur variable forme le revêtement possédant une surface de frappe de la balle.
