- Pole coils as an alternative to longed-for coils include the mechanical poles of the stator. These so-called pole coils are either wound directly on the mechanical poles or are wound on templates, which in turn are positioned on the poles.
- US Pat. No. 3,339,097 discloses an electrical machine whose poles are equipped with templates which have pole coils constructed from round wire. The disadvantage of this is that these pole coils are constructed from round wire, so that there is a poor fill factor.

The flexibility of the stranded conductors can be increased by using filaments of different diameters and / or cross-sections.
