Abstract

A muffler (10) includes a tubular body (22) having an interior surface (28) extending between a first end (30) and an opposing second end (32), the interior surface (28) bounding a chamber. An exhaust cap (24) is disposed on the second end (32) of the tubular body (22), the exhaust cap (24) having an interior surface (28) bounding a channel that communicates with the chamber. An inlet cap (100) is disposed on the first end (30) of the tubular body (22). A perf tube (80) is longitudinally disposed within the chamber of the tubular body (22). A spark arrestor (120) includes a tubular neck advanced within the channel of the exhaust cap (24) toward the body (22). A spark barrier is mounted on an end of the tubular neck so as to be at least partially disposed within the perf tube (80), the spark barrier being comprised of a sheet of mesh or porous material.
