Abstract

The invention relates to an optical sensor for the determination of the concentration and/or the partial pressure of at least one substance, contained in a gas mixture or a liquid, or the pH value by means of at least one light source. Fluorescence is thus stimulated in at least one layer comprising a fluorescent material, or in a layer system or in surface plasmons. At least one optical sensor is also provided for determination of the intensity, relaxation time, angular resolution or phase shift of the fluorescent light or the modified light from the surface plasmons, present in the layer or layer system in contact with the gas mixture or the fluid. The at least one light source and the at least one optical sensor are housed in a housing provided with openings for the inlet and outlet of light.
