Paraffinring zur GarnparaffierungParaffin ring for thread waxing
The present invention relates to a paraffin ring for wax waxing.
Such paraffin rings are known and are used in yarn production in particular in rotor spinning machines and winding machines, as is known from DE 100 62 096 AI. The known rings have an essentially cylindrical shape, with a paraffin jacket and a push-on bore concentric to a longitudinal central axis of the paraffin ring. The push-on bore has an essentially circular cross section, by means of which the paraffin ring is pushed onto a holder provided for this purpose. At its end on the holder side, the paraffin ring has a so-called guiding phase, with which alignment and a rotary connection with the holder is achieved. The holder is, for example, a spindle-like pin.
In operation, a yarn is passed under frictional contact over the end of the paraffin ring remote from the holder, paraffin remaining on the yarn and the yarn being "paraffined". The paraffin ring is gradually removed due to the release of paraffin to the yarn. If the paraffin ring is worn down to a minimum, it must be replaced. Since the paraffin rings in the rotor spinning machines or winding machines are held relatively high (above the eye level of many operators), it is not easy for the operating personnel to recognize when a paraffin ring is must be changed. Therefore, in many cases the paraffin ring is changed too early, which leads to wasted material, or is changed too late, which is associated with poor yarn quality.
Proceeding from this, a paraffin ring with the features of claim 1 is provided according to the invention.
The paraffin ring according to the invention has in the paraffin jacket at one end on the holder side at least one non-continuous tap hole which runs essentially parallel to the push-on bore. When the paraffin ring is removed, its length shortens from the end remote from the holder in the direction of the holder. From a certain moment, namely when the remaining length of the paraffin ring corresponds exactly to the depth of the at least one tap hole, the tap hole in the paraffin jacket becomes visible. When checking the paraffin rings, the operating personnel recognize the previously invisible tap hole and can conclude that the paraffin ring is about to be changed. The term "paraffin jacket" is understood in the geometric sense to mean the cylinder jacket around the plug-in hole.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, a plurality of tap holes are provided in the paraffin jacket, preferably two, three or four tap holes, in order to improve the visibility. Of course, more than four tap holes can also be provided.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the paraffin ring has a plurality of tap holes of different depths. This has the effect that when the length of the paraffin ring decreases, the tap holes become visible one after the other, so that the operating personnel can move up to Change of the paraffin ring can better estimate the remaining time. A configuration with three tap holes, the depths of which are six millimeters, eight millimeters or ten millimeters, has proven to be particularly advantageous.
Further advantages and refinements of the invention result from the description and the attached drawing.
It goes without saying that the features mentioned above and those yet to be explained below can be used not only in the combination specified in each case, but also in other combinations or on their own without departing from the scope of the present invention.
The invention is illustrated schematically in the drawing using an exemplary embodiment and is described in detail below with reference to the drawing.

Die Aufsteckbohrung 14 verläuft konzentrisch zu einer Längsmittelachse des Paraffinrings 10.Figure 1 shows a paraffin ring 10 according to the invention for waxing in a perspective view. The PA- Raffin ring 10 comprises a paraffin jacket 12 and a plug-in bore 14 for plugging the paraffin ring 10 onto a holder (not shown) provided for this purpose of a device for yarn production or yarn processing, for example a rotor spinning machine or a winding machine. The push-on bore 14 runs concentrically to a longitudinal central axis of the paraffin ring 10.
In the illustration in FIG. 1, an end 18 of the paraffin ring 10 facing away from the holder faces the viewer. In this illustration, the paraffin ring 10 according to the invention does not differ from the previously known paraffin rings, as are used in devices for yarn production or processing.
Figure 2 shows the paraffin ring 10 according to the invention of Figure 1 in a perspective view from the opposite direction, i.e. from the side of a holder-side end 16 of the paraffin ring 10. Also visible is the continuous plug-in bore 14, which, however, does not have a circular cross-section at the holder-side end 16, but rather an angular cross-section (a square cross-section in the exemplary embodiment shown), which serves as the guide phase 15. Other non-circular cross-sectional geometries such as an oval cross-section can also serve as a guide phase.
Furthermore, according to the invention, the paraffin ring 10 has three tap holes 20, 22, 24, which are provided on the end 16 in the paraffin jacket 12 and run essentially parallel to the plug-on hole 14.
The three tap holes 20, 22, 24 have a comparatively small depth. The paraffin ring 10 has a length of several centimeters, for example four up to five cm (the length as well as the diameter of the paraffin ring can vary depending on the application), while the tap holes are only a few millimeters deep. This is illustrated in the (schematic and not to scale) representation in FIG. 3. 3 shows the paraffin ring 10 according to the invention from FIGS. 1 and 2 in a side view.
On its holder-side end 16 (arranged on the left in the illustration in FIG. 3), the paraffin ring 10 has the above-mentioned tap holes 20, 22, 24 in the paraffin jacket 12. The three tap holes 20, 22, 24 preferably have different depths. In the exemplary embodiment shown, a first (lowermost) tap hole 20 has the greatest depth, a second (uppermost) tap hole has a medium depth, and finally a third (middle) tap hole 24 has the smallest depth. The depths for the tap holes can also vary depending on the application, with depths of six millimeters, eight millimeters and ten millimeters having proven particularly advantageous for the three tap holes. At least the lowest depth should be chosen so that it is not less than the minimum paraffin ring length of a worn or used paraffin ring.
In operation, the paraffin ring 10 according to the invention is inserted into the holder provided therefor in a manner known per se. Yarn runs in frictional contact over the end 18 of the paraffin ring 10 which is remote from the holder, paraffin remaining on the yarn (and thus a so-called paraffining of the yarn taking place), as a result of which the paraffin ring 10 wears off, so that its length decreases with increasing use. In the illustration in FIG. 3, this means that the paraffin ring 10 is held by the (right) end 18 near the left shortened. If the removal of the paraffin ring 10 has progressed to such an extent that the bottom of the first (and deepest) tap hole 20 is reached, this tap hole is visible in the surface of the paraffin jacket 12 at the end 18 of the paraffin ring 10 remote from the holder. This visibility of the first, deepest tap hole 20 indicates to an operator that the paraffin ring 10 is worn to a certain extent, but that a change is not yet necessary immediately. With further removal of the paraffin ring 10 in the direction of the holder-side end 16, the two further branch bores 22 and 24 are then gradually visible, and when the central branch bore 22 becomes visible, the operating personnel is informed that the upcoming change of the paraffin ring 10 is now imminent, so that at Visibility of the last, shortest tap hole 24 of the paraffin ring 10 can be changed as soon as possible.
Figure 4 illustrates a top view of the distal end 18 of the paraffin ring 10, its appearance when all three tap holes 20, 22, 24 are visible, i.e. the paraffin ring 10 (or the rest thereof) must be replaced.
With the invention, a paraffin ring for yarn paraffining is provided in a simple but very reliable manner, in which a change of the worn paraffin ring too soon or later is eliminated. As described, this is achieved by one or more tap holes according to the invention.
