Definitions
- the present invention relates, in general, to ropes for pets to prevent a pet from being excessively distant from a user while with the pet and, more particularly, to a rope for pets which has a shock absorber connected to a strap of the rope and having two or more coil springs with different elastic moduli and accomplishing a role as a handle, so that when the pet suddenly pulls the rope to suddenly increase or the rope tension, the user is reliably prevented from losing the rope, or falling down, or being injured, due to the coil springs mounted in the shock absorber to be compressed sequentially and gradually in response to the rope tension while smoothly absorbing and attenuating the rope tension.
- dogs are the most popular animals that most of children desire to receive as a gift.
- dogs are usually raised within the residential space, that is, houses. Since they are small, the owners thereof carry them directly in their arms or in baskets while they go out.
- the dog's health it is necessary to allow the dogs to walk or run by themselves outside.
- the pet dogs are free, it is not unusual for them to bite people, get lost or may not be controlled. To avoid such dangers or non-control thereof, the dog's neck is tied with a dog collar, to which a chain is connected.
- dogs are generally allowed to move within the allowable range of the dog chain.
- a conventional rope for pets to control a pet's motion comprises a hook 11 connected to a first end of the rope and detachably locked to a pet collar, a handle 12 or a wrist strap 12' to allow a user to hold the handle 12 of the rope with his/her hand or to wear the wrist strap
- the inventor of the present invention proposed a rope for pets in Korean Utility Model Application No. 2002-19471, which has a shock absorber with two or more coil springs.
- the structure of the rope coupled to a handle causes inconvenience to the user, and the construction of an inner casing of the shock absorber complicates the manufacturing process of the shock absorber.
- an object of the present invention is to provide a rope for pets with a shock absorber which has a sequential shock- absorbing function to appropriately cope with a tension of the rope changed according to a pet's motion, and quickly reduces the tension caused by the sudden pet's motion and transferred to the wrist of a user, so that the user can be prevented from losing the rope, or falling down, or being injured while with the pet, and which is convenient to use and manufacture.
- the present invention provides a rope for pets with a shock absorber, in which two or more coil springs are mounted and which is connected to a first end of a strap.
- the rope for pets according to the present invention is comprised of a looped handle, a shock absorber, a strap, and a hook.
- the term 'strap' generally means a 'rope' or 'cord', and means only 'pure strap part' to except from the looped handle, the shock absorber, and the hook in order to distinguish the 'strap' from the term 'rope' of the term 'rope for pets' meaning the whole structure of the pet rope of the present invention comprised of a plurality of elements.
- the direction toward the looped handle is designated by the term 'first end'
- the direction toward the hook connected to a pet collar is designated by the term 'second end'.
- a soft and flexible looped handle having a looped shape is connected to the first end of the shock absorber to allow the user to hold the looped handle with the hand, or to wear the looped handle around the wrist while holding the shock absorber with the hand.
- the shock absorber of the present invention also has a role as a handle having a bar-shaped appearance.
- the pet rope of the present invention is characterized in that the rope has the shock absorber collaterally acting as the handle. Since the two or more coil springs with different elastic moduli are installed in a cylindrical casing of the shock absorber, the coil springs are sequentially compressed in response to a pet's pulling force. Accordingly, the shock absorber effectively absorbs quick impact applied from the pet to the hand through the strap when the pet suddenly moves. And, the shock absorber is comprised of hollow cylindrical inside and outside casings, which have circular cross-sections and have small and large diameters to be movable relative to each other, a compression rod passing the first end of the inside casing to be movable along the axial direction of the inside casing, and the coil springs.
- the coil springs have different elastic moduli. Further, the coil springs are respectively installed between the inner surface of the outside casing and the outer surface of the inside casing, and between the inner surface of the inside casing and the outer surface of the compression rod, respectively.
- the coil springs comprise at least two kinds of springs having small and large diameters in order to allow the coil springs to be separated from each other by the inside casing in the outside casing.
- the second end of the inside casing is inserted into the outside casing to be projected to the outside of the outside casing through the second end of the outside casing, but the first end of the inside casing is prevented from being removed from the outside casing through the second end of the outside casing.
- the first end of the compression rod inserted into the inside casing is also prevented from being removed from the inside casing through the second end of the inside casing, while the second end of the compression rod which is projected to the outside of the inside casing is connected to the first end of the strap.
- the strap is connected to a hook which is locked to a pet collar.
- the small-diameter coil spring installed between the outer surface of the compression rod and the inner surface of the inside casing is compressed between the first end of the compression rod and the second end of the inside casing.
- the large-diameter coil spring installed between the outer surface of the inside casing and the inner surface of the outside casing is compressed between the first end of the inside casing and the second end of the outside casing.
- the compression rod is primarily pushed by the pet's pulling force while compressing the small-diameter coil spring having the less elastic modulus.
- the inside casing is pulled to the outside of the outside casing while further compressing the small-diameter coil spring, and the large-diameter coil spring is compressed, therefore a sequential and gradual shock-absorbing action of the shock absorber is accomplished.
- the operational type of the compression rod and the inside casing may be changed by controlling the elastic moduli of the coil springs.
