Abstract

The identification system of stolen cars comprising the protected vehicle that is equipped with an activation signal receiver, the output of which is connected to a signal display with an inscription, showing an information that the vehicle was stolen, and an information how to notify the burglary; while the signal display is inserted inside a special window glass.

Description

The system for identification of stolen cars
The field of application
The invention concerns with the system for a visible identification of stolen cars with the aim of an easy detection as ell as unserviceability in the public transportation.
Current status ofthe technique
The existing ways of searching for the stolen cars are based on the radio transmission of the identification signal (e.g., Lo-Jack system), for example. However, the transmission from the car can be easily recognized by an experienced burglar group that shields the vehicle by an aluminum folio, for example, thus the transmitting signal is suppressed.
Using the cellular phone, which is hidden in a guarded car, is a similar way for identification of a corresponding signal that can be recognized with the accuracy of 5 km (CZ UVz 8733).
Another system applies a hidden radio-pager in the car, the output of which guarantees the car unserviceability by means of the electronic circuits (e.g., GB, PV 2 291 235A). It is often done regardless of the fact that the car may be present in a potentially dangerous situation, e.g. passing other cars, being in the traffic jam or a tunnel, etc.
Interrogating passive systems are also known, such as a device for the identification of stolen cars according to CZ PV 1652-94, which composes from a radio interrogator placed in a police car and an hidden answering device placed in a guarded car. The answering device transmits a signal only after it received it from the interrogator and the correct signal is then transmitted only after the activation by a code from the authorized driver. A disadvantage of this system is a necessity of a special equipment in the police cars and more or less random method of control that works only in a certain territory.
On the other side, burglar mafia groups use methods by which they are able to steal a car not only using the original keys but also using a remote controller of the electronic safety card. The security system of the vehicle then cannot disclose an unauthorized manipulation with the car.
There are also the search paid databases and companies that are able to find out whether the car was stolen (also available internationally). The inspection occurs by means of the identification number of the car. Mafia groups are able to change it almost perfectly. The changed number cannot be revealed by a common techniques. New owners or salesmen with used cars are often mislead. A specialist called for a thorough inspection finds out other number "copies" in different "hidden" places. If the numbers differ from each other the car is stolen. Mafia groups still facilitate the work and the numbers, that are hidden to the laic public, are not usually overwritten. When those numbers start to be changed the stolen cars will be lost "forever".
The subject matter of an invention
The above mentioned disadvantages are somewhat eliminated by the system for labeling the stolen cars according to this invention that consists of a receiver to be activated, the output of which is connected to a signal display unit built-in to the window vehicle glass: best into the windshield. The signal display unit shows an inscription with a warning that the cai was stolen. and a message, accordmg to which the car was stolen, can be visualized. The advantage is that the message (inscription) do not prevent the visibility from the car and it cannot be the reason of an accident. It is advantageous to choose such a display, inscription of which is shown in case that the supply voltage is lost, while the presence ofthe supply voltage for keeping the display without an optical warning is needed. A common radio receiver can serve for receiving a coded activation signal, e.g. radio pager or cellular (mobile) phone that could be used within an existing network. The output signal from the receiver should be adapted with an irreversible circuit that assures a permanent signal inscription after the activation. All the electronic devices for identification of stolen cars, that is the receiver, irreversible circuit, power supply generator for the display, and the signal display (and also the receiver antenna or an additional power supply) should be placed into a special window glass of the car. The signal display or its part could be of advantage as a receiver antenna. The output signal from the activation signal receiver can be also used as one ofthe information for the car immobilizer which may cause an automatic shut-down of the car engine after a delay or it would block a new engine ignition.
This signal system allows for the car owner to raise the alarm for searching for the stolen car without unnecessary delay. He/she remotely makes the inscription visible on the stolen car and the display warns in several languages that the car was stolen together with an information about the contact to the owner.
The projection ofthe inscription "STOLEN" on the car window in an unexpected time is a high risk for the burglars that could be easily identified. The burglars are forced to stop the car and leave it or to find a place where they can remove the window since the activated inscription "STOLEN" cannot be switched off.
Impossibility of the window replace without the owner permission (i.e., without a legal authentication) should be guaranteed by an administration. To assure that the special window cannot be replaced by a unauthorized window, a sealed hardware key can be inserted to the original window that blocks the unauthorized engine ignition. A certain disadvantage is that the special window glass is deteriorated because the activated inscription cannot be removed form a safety reasons. The car is, however, protected. The stolen car will be revealed even with forged or stolen documents or car keys, or forged identification engine and chassis numbers or VTN numbers. The car location is principally independent on the police work.
An example ofthe design
The system for the identification of stolen cars in this representative design is based on the fact that the protected vehicle is accommodated with a special windshield, in which a signal display is sealed in the glass together with the input radio pager electronics. The pager is a receiver of the activation signal and it is equipped with a self-destruction circuit that functions as an irreversible circuit, which stops the power supply of the signal display after the activation signal was received. This causes that the inscription "STOLEN" in several languages becomes visible and, at the same time, the inscriptions informs about the contacts to the car owner, such as the phone or fax numbers, e-mail address, etc. The signal display is constructed to make visible the inscriptions when the power supply is lost while the presence ofthe supply voltage for keeping the display without an optical warning is needed. The signal display is also used as an pager antenna.
The industrial availability
The system for the identification of stolen cars is designed for locating the stolen cars. It can be applied for all new car brands.
