Description

FAN HOUSING
This invention is related to a fan housing used in domestic appliances and preferably in refrigerators.
In the state of art, fans, which are used to create air circulation in the refrigerating equipment, are housed in a fan housing for the bearing of the driving motor and for user safety.
In US Patent No. 3206148 a two-piece bracket system which includes connection members and bolt holes for bearing the fan motor is disclosed.
In EP No. 0242342, coupling of the carrier arms that are projected from the motor housing by a short rotary movement after their fitting into the recesses in the attachment unit is disclosed.
In EP No. 0591665, a system comprising a fan motor that is beared by a two part housing, one of which is formed together with the rear cover and mounted together by means of detent means.
In DE No. 19756859, a system, in which a chamber which covers a motor is placed outside a chamber which covers the fan wheel and these two areas are separated by a wall from each other and the shaft of the motor is beared by a recess in the said wall at one end and in the other end the shaft is beared by a part which is fitted as an addition, is defined.
The object of this invention is to realize a fan housing that is used in domestic appliances and preferably in refrigerators that can be easily mounted and provides the security requirements defined in the norms.
The fan housing realized to attain the object of the invention has been illustrated in the attached drawings wherein;
Figure 1 is the exploded view of the fan housing,
Figure 2 is the perspective view of the fan housing, Figure 3 is the perspective view of the assembled motor box and the rear cover,
Figure 4a is the perspective view of the mounting of the motor box to the rear cover from the rear side,
Figure 4b is the perspective view of the mounting of the motor box to the rear cover from the front side,
Figure 5 is the perspective view of the mounting of a motor box which has a protector to the rear cover.
The components shown in the drawings have been numbered as follows:
I . Fan Housing
2. Fan wheel
3. Motor
4. Front Cover
5.105 Rear Cover
6.106 Motor Box
7. Shaft
8. Cable Group
9. Window

12. Bearing
13. Washer
14. Motor chamber
15. Fan Domestic appliances and especially refrigerators comprise a fan (15) and a fan housing (1), in which the fan (15) is placed to prevent the fan (15) to contact any other object and to prevent injury of the user and to provide its mounting on the wall of the refrigerating equipment. Said fan (15) has a fan wheel (2) to increase the air circulation (2) and a motor (3) that drives the fan wheel (2).
The fan housing (1), according to the present invention comprises a front cover which protects the fan wheel (2), a rear cover (5) and a motor box (6), into which the motor (3) is placed.
The front cover (4), includes one or more windows to guide air.
The motor (3) includes a shaft (7) which transmits the movement to the fan wheel
(2) attached thereto and a cable group (8).
The rear cover (5) includes a recess (11) into which the motor box (6) is placed and a protector (10) which covers the motor (3) and the cable group (8).
The motor box (6) comprises a motor chamber (14) into which the motor (3) is placed and one or more bearings (12) where the shaft (7) is beared by one or more washers (13).
While the fan housing (1) is fixed to the refrigerating equipment, at first the motor
(3) placed in the motor box (6) that is located in the motor chamber by bearing it by means of the washers. Then, the motor box (6) is fixed to the rear cover (5) from the front or from the rear. Rear cover (5) is attached to the refrigerator body and then the fan (10) and the front cover (4) are assembled respectively to complete the assembly.
The motor box (6), may be fixed to the rear cover (5) by snap-fit coupling. The front cover (4) is attached to the rear cover (5) and the rear cover is attached to the body of the refrigerator by one or more screws. In a preferred embodiment, rear cover is attached to the body of the refrigerator by two or more screws, and the front cover (4) is attached to the rear cover (5) by one screw. Thus the motor box (6) may not be accessed without removing the screw on the front cover (4). The motor box (6) may be attached to the rear cover (5) and removed thereof from front or back side. (5) (Figure 4a, Figure 4b).
In another embodiment of the invention, the fan housing (1) comprises a front cover (4) which protects the fan wheel (2), a rear cover (105) and a motor box (106) into which the motor (3) is mounted.
A protector (110) has been integrated into the motor box (106) and is manufactured as a single part. The protector (110) is on the motor box (106) and formed so as to open or close.
In the preferred embodiment, the material thickness is reduced at the joint of the motor box (106) and the protector (110). Thus, the protector (110), may move around the joint and the motor (3) may easily be installed into the motor box and then the protection of the motor (3) is provided by snap-fit coupling of the protector (110) onto the motor box (106).
The rear cover (105), includes a recess (11) into which the motor box (106) may be attached to the rear cover (105) and removed from front or back sides (Figure 5).
The possibility of attaching and removing the motor box (6, 106) to and from the rear cover (5, 105) in the desired direction, facilitates installation and maintenance.
Motor vibration is reduced since the motor (3) is beared by hanging from the motor box (6,106). The heating of the motor (3) is prevented by the air circulation area formed between the motor (3) and the motor box (6, 106)
