Abstract

The mechanically adjustable hinge is made of main parts (1) and (13). In the middle of these main parts (1) and (13) are screwed steel-made threaded arms (4) and (15). The arms' length can vary at will thanks to their revolving capacity. The mechanical hinge provides absolute home safety for the reason that can be installed on the inside part of the door or window shutter. Moreover the hinge is especially designed for aluminum-made doors and windows as well as door and window shutters but can also be compatible with other material-based shutters like wooden or PVC or composite . In addition, the hinge can be very easily adapted to accommodate frames designed according to European standards.

Description

DESCRIPTION
MECHANICALLY ADJUSTABLE HINGE FOR DOORS AND WINDOWS
The present invention refers to a mechanically adjustable hinge for door and window shutters. Up to this day the industry hasn't been able to showcase anything like it. It is limited to a certain type of mechanical hinges that all share a major shortcoming : They do not provide security, for their installation onto the aluminum door and window shutters is made with threading rods screwed from the exterior, a thing that renders them vulnerable for house break-ins. The present invention, according to its description, successfully addresses the above shortcomings, because this new type of hinge is a radically new design that sets new standards in the industry world-wide. An application method of the present invention is being described bellow : Figure 1 shows the entire mechanically adjustable hinge as viewed from the exterior side of the framing. Figure 2 shows the mechanically adjustable hinge as seen from its back view.Figure 3 shows a look down view of the mechanically adjustable hinge, its movable parts as well as its attachment points on the framing profile. Figure 4 is merely a side view version of the mechanically adjustable hinge , while Figure 5 offers a lateral view of the main part (20) Along with the arm (24). All of the above figures show a mechanically adjustable aluminum hinge which is comprised of : The main part (1) that bears holes (2) at both its ends. Inside the holes (2) are hosted screws (11) attaching the main body (1) onto the door or window casing . Both screws are covered by plugs (12). Moreover the main part (1) bears at its lenght-centre a special extrusion (9) that fit in the frame lining of the door or the window casing .The main part extrusion (9) bears one or more holes (10) hosting a bolt that attaches the main part (1) on the inside of the casing thus rendering its removal from the casing imposible if tried from the outside. The main part (1) also bears at its centre a cylindric reception (3) with a threaded opening (5) or an build-in threaded nut .A steel threaded arm (4), bearing an firmly fixed axle (7) at its end (6) , is screwed in the opening of the main part (1). The main part (13) bearing blind-ending threaded holes (14) on its both ends is screwed on the moving segment of the door or the window. These holes (14) are made on the inside surface of the main part which is attached to the framings with screws (11) that pass thru the openings (19) of the hinge support (18) and housed in the blind-end threaded holes (14) of the main part (13). The main part (13) also bears a threaded steel arm (15) ending in a cylinder (16) bearing an opening (17). A polyamide Nylon 6 or Nylon 6.6 bushing is housed inside the opening (17) The main part (13 )is deployed and attached to the main body (1) in such a way that the axle (7) would fit in the bushing (8). A different axle adjustment application is described in the figure (4) where there is a side-view of the main part (20) attached to the door or window casing. The main part (20) bears at its lenght-centre a special extrusion (9) that fit in the frame lining of the door or the window casing .The main part extrusion (9) bears one or more holes (10) hosting a bolt (11) that attaches the main body (20) on the inside of the casing thus rendering its removal from the casing impossible if tried from the outside. The main part (20) also bears an extruding part (21) with a double diameter hole (22) and (23),configured in such a way that hole (22) is smaller than hole (23). Inside the hole (23) is housed an also double diameter threaded bolt (24), which on its one end is screwed in the hole (22) and on its other tip it ends in a headed-like tip (25) where axle (26) is attached. The threaded bolt (24) can be adjusted in such a way that its threads would not visible from the outside of the framing. The main part (27) also bears an extruding cylindric part (28) hosting an opening (29). Inside the opening (29) is housed an arm (30) that bears a threaded housing (31). An adjusting bolt (32) hosted in the threaded housing (31) bears a "cut" for a lock-pin (33) that can secure the stabilising bolt (32) always in a stable position , with relation to the main body (27). At the lower part of the opening (29) theres a wedge (34) running along the full lenght of the its inside wall , that fits in a sliding track of the arm (30). As a result, during rotation of the adjusting bolt (32) , the arm (30) is pushed or pulled ,dependjng on the direction of the rotation of the adjusting bolt (32). At the same time the wedge (34) and the sliding track (35)of the arm (30) block its unwanted rotation , thus the adjustment of the opening frame with relation to its fixed framing is rendered easier and precise. The arm (30) bears at its end a joint (36) with a cavity hosting a bushing (37) where the axle (26) is finally housed into. All of the system's fundamental parts can be assembled according to their visual plans and descriptions aptly provided above. Other possiblities about plan modifications of the main invention are not examined in this specific presentation. Different manufacturing procedures can be accommodated either by modifying the shape of the parts or by changing its function mechanisms , and all that without compromising the basic principles and the advantages of the present invention. Moreover, the adjustable mechanical hinge can also be manufactured in any desired shape, size or any kind of material ( wood ,synthetic, etc.) to be used for doors and windows and door and window shutters respectively. For the mass production of the mechanical hinge is required the building of cast iron molds as well as the building of wax molding. The above manufacturing procedures are recommended especially for the production of the steel threaded arms (4) so they would remain aligned with respect to the door and window shutters thus eliminating sagging.
