Further, since the rear most supporting member 4 has a free end, the rearmost supporting member 4 falls down to the ground and therefore assembly work of the foldable bed is inconvenient.
  • the foldable bed when the foldable bed is unfolded, since the free end of the rearmost supporting member 4 is supported only by the bed seat by being inserted into the inserting member formed at both side edges of the rear part of the bead seat, the foldable bed is unstable in its free-standing state.
  • the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a foldable bed in which a bed seat is stretched even across the entire bed seat when the foldable bed is unfolded so that the bed seat has no sagging areas and a user feels comfortable at the upper part of his or her body.
  • a foldable bed having a plurality of supporting members being arranged in a shape of "X" and coupled to each other by hinge members, comprising: a bed seat having a seat body, and side wings extending from both side edges of the seat body, respectively, and having respective interior spaces along a longitudinal direction therein and respective apertures at the middle portions thereof; and tensioning structures combined with the supporting members positioned at the middle portion of the side wings, wherein each of the tensioning structures includes an extending member coupled to a bent end portion of the supporting member by a hinge and a guide member coupled to a bent end portion of a different supporting member by a hinge for guiding a movement of the extending member.
  • the foldable bed further comprises a slidable supporting member connecting the rearmost supporting member to the hinge member adjacent to the rearmost supporting member.

  • the guide member 24 is preferably coupled to the bent end portion 42 of the supporting member 4 by a hinge, the supporting member being positioned at the middle part of the framework.
  • the extending member 22 of the tensioning structure 20 has a bar shape. One end of the extending member 22 is coupled to a coupling portion 28 of a coupler 26 by a hinge 30, the coupler being secured to the bent end portion 40 of the supporting member 4. The bottom of the coupling portion 28 of the coupler 26 is opened to receive the end of the extending member 22 when the tensioning structure 20 is combined with the framework. Further, when the bed seat 10 is tensioned, the coupler 26 is positioned in the interior space 16 of the side wing 14.
  • the guide member 24 of the tensioning structure 20 has a guide hole 32 at the center thereof, and is coupled to a fixing member 36 by a hinge 36, wherein the fixing member 36 is secured to the end of the bent end portion 42 of the supporting member 4 and has a seat section 34. Accordingly, when the tensioning structure 20 is combined with the framework, the guide hole 32 receives the extending member 22 so that the extending member 22 is slidable therein, and the guide member 24 is positioned at the aperture 18 of the side wing 14 of the bed seat 10 to be exposed.
  • the hinges 30, 38 associated with the extending member 22 and the guide member 24, respectively should be combined with the extending member 22 and the guide member 24 to rotate in the same direction so that the extending member 22 and the guide member 24 can be folded in the same direction.
  • the foldable bed in accordance with the present invention further comprises a slidable supporting member 50 provided to connect the rearmost supporting member 4 to the hinge member 5 installed at the upper end of the supporting member 4 adjacent to the rearmost supporting member 4.
  • the slidable supporting member 50 comprises a supporting bar 52 and a slider 54 coupled to one end of the supporting bar 52 by a hinge.
  • the rearmost supporting member 4 is inserted into the slider 54 and is slidable therein.
  • the slidable supporting member 50 further comprises a rotating member 56 incorporated into the hinge member 5.
  • the slidable supporting member 50 is installed to one of the rearmost supporting member 4 but may be installed to both rearmost supporting members 4.
  • the bed seat 10 further has inserting members 10a at both side edge portions of the front part of the bed seat 10 and inserting members 10b at both side edge portions of the rear part of the bed seat 10, so that extended bent portions 3 a of the foremost supporting members 3 are inserted into the respective inserting members 10a and free ends 4a of the rearmost supporting members 4 are inserted into the inserting members 10b of the bed seat 10.
  • the bed seat 10 and the framework are joined with each other.
  • Unexplained reference numeral 60 denotes a protective cap covering an end portion of the extending member 22, and reference numeral 62 denotes a fixing band for fixing the foldable bed by winding around the same after the foldable bed is folded.
  • the lower hinge members 6 are positioned on the ground at certain intervals and the upper hinge members 5 are positioned under the bed seat 10 at certain intervals.
  • the extended bent portions 3 a, 4a of the foremost and rearmost supporting members 3, 4 are inserted into the inserting members 10a, 10b of the bed seat 10.
  • the extending members 22 are coupled to the framework in such a manner that the extending members 22 are inserted into the guide holes 32 of the guide members 24, thereby being placed on the seat sections 34 of the fixing members 36, and then the guide members 24 and the extending members 22 are coupled to the bent end portions 42, 40, respectively of the supporting members 4. Then, the side wings 14 are spread along the longitudinal direction thereof to cover the extending members 22. At this time, when a weight of a user is applied to the bed seat 10, since the supporting members 4 tend to separate from each other, the bed seat 10 is maximally tensioned.
  • the bed seat 10 since the extending members 22 installed at both sides of the framework supports the side wings 14 of the bed seat 10 across the entire length thereof, the bed seat 10 may be tensioned even across almost the entire length thereof. Accordingly, the bed seat does not have local sagging areas but has an even surface. Further, in the case of folding the foldable bed as shown in Figs. 10 and 11, the foldable bed is folded in such a manner that a user holds and picks up the bent portions 3 a, 4a of the foremost and rearmost supporting members 3, 4, and then pushes the same toward the middle portion of the foldable bed so as for the foremost supporting member 3 and the rearmost supporting member 4 to be close to each other.
  • the rearmost supporting member 4 can be smoothly foldable due to the slidable supporting member 50. That is, as the slider 54 slides up along the supporting member 4 while folding the foldable bed, the slidable supporting member 50 is folded smoothly and the rotating member 56 rotates.
  • the folded bed is fixed by winding the fixing band 62 therearound.
  • the foldable bed in accordance with the present invention is advantageous in that the foldable bed is easily foldable.
  • the foldable bed in accordance with the present invention is advantageous in that a bed seat is stretched uniformly across the entire length of bed seat when the foldable bed is unfolded so that the bed seat has no local sagging areas and a user feels comfortable at the upper part of his or her body. Still further, the foldable bed in accordance with the present invention is advantageous in that the foldable has a simplified structure in which a framework for supporting a bed seat and a tensioning structure for tensioning the bed seat are incorporated into a single body so that the tensioning structure and the framework can operate together, thereby providing advantages such as easy use, mass producibility, low cost and prevention of misoperation.
  • the foldable bed in accordance with the present invention includes a slidable supporting member 50 being slidable along the rearmost supporting member 4 and combined with the hinge member 50 adjacent to the free end of the rearmost supporting member 4, thereby enabling the rearmost supporting member 4 to stably stand alone.
