Abstract

Cette invention concerne une structure de réduction catalytique d'oxydes d'azote présents dans les gaz d'échappement qui sont produits par la combustion d'un carburant et qui se présentent périodiquement sous forme d'un mélange riche ou d'un mélange pauvre. Cette structure comprend, sur un substrat inerte (A), une couche catalytique de surface renfermant, comme composant catalytique de surface (a) du cérium, (b) un oxyde de praséodyme, ou (c) au moins un élément pris dans des mélanges d'oxydes d'au moins deux éléments pris parmi le cérium, le zirconium, le praséodyme, le néodyme, le terbium, le samarium, le gadolinium et le lanthanum, et des oxydes doubles d'au moins deux éléments pris parmi les substances susmentionnées, et (B) un couche catalytique intérieure renfermant, comme composant catalytique intérieur (a) au moins un élément pris parmi le platine, le rhodium, des oxydes de platine, des oxydes de rhodium et des oxydes de palladium, (b) un absorbant/adsorbant de NOx, et (c) un support. L'absorbant/adsorbant de NOx susmentionné est un composé de métal alcalin, un composé de métal alcalino-terreux, un double oxyde à structure de magnétoplombite, ou bien un double oxyde à structure de perovskite.
