Abstract

A vehicle (1), as shown in Figure 1, driven by a linear induction motor (6) along tracks (7, 11) in flat regions and on transitional gradients, wherein the operational mode of the linear motor is switched so that it is driven by a linear synchronous motor along uphill or downhill tracks with steep gradients whereby electricity is supplied from the track side on uphill tracks with steep gradients for which a large supply of electricity is required.
