Definitions
- the present invention relates to accessory attachment systems on a helmet and more particularly a safety device intended to equip these systems to allow the automatic removal or unhooking of an accessory in certain particular situations.
- helmets Numerous types of helmets are known in the prior art intended to equip professionals such as firefighters, soldiers or pilots and others used during leisure activities such as mountaineering, speleology or motorcycles, for example. These helmets, specific to their use, sometimes use accessories that hang on the helmet, such as oxygen masks, gas masks, communication devices or others. However, in certain emergency situations, these accessories attached to the helmet can be a nuisance and even form a significant problem for the user.
- US Pat. No. 4,869,245 is thus known, which is a device comprising an explosive charge, the explosion of which destroys part of the means for attaching the mask and thus causes its release.
- the unlocking element is not an explosive charge, but is formed by a pellet made of a material which disintegrates very quickly in a humid environment, which then causes the release of the mask.
- the latter solution is already an improvement, but is not entirely satisfactory, since it is unreliable and difficult to implement.
- the present invention therefore aims to solve the aforementioned problems using simple, reliable and easy to implement means, which allows among other things to periodically carry out a non-destructive test and control procedure.
- an accessory attachment device such as an oxygen mask on a helmet, of the type comprising main assembly means disposed on the helmet to cooperate with complementary assembly means integral with the accessory, and a safety device which causes the detachment of the accessory when it is in contact with a liquid
- said safety device comprises at least one unlocking release element, said means, acting on these by means of electromechanical unlocking means.
- these means consist of an attachment device, characterized in that the electromechanical unlocking means consist of an electric motor, controlled by the triggering element, and acting on mechanical unlocking members to ensure the release of 'locking members secured to the helmet cooperating with hooking elements in connection with the accessory.
- Figures 1 to 10 illustrate the preferred embodiment of the attachment device and associated helmet and alternative embodiments of the device.
- FIG. 1 illustrates in perspective a pilot's helmet and his oxygen mask hung by a fastening device of the invention.
- FIG. 2 illustrates in perspective the helmet and its mask when they have been removed using the safety device.
- Figure 3 illustrates the main assembly means in exploded perspective.
- FIG. 4 illustrates in longitudinal section the main and complementary attachment means of the device
- Figure 5 is a bottom view of the housing.
- Figures 6 and 7 schematically show in an end view the operation of the safety device, respectively in assembly position ( Figure 6) and during the ejection of the jaws, and in the final position once unhooked, ( Figure 7).
- Figures 8, 9 and 10 show in perspective the hooking means, respectively in the locked position (Figure 8) during unlocking ( Figure 9) and unlocked ( Figure 10).
- Figure 11 is a block diagram of the electronic system.
- Figure 12 is a perspective view of the electronic circuit with its protective envelope, which protrude the two electrodes constituting the water presence sensor.
- Figure 13 is a perspective view from below of the removable trigger and release housing.
- the attachment device (1) for an accessory (2) on a helmet (3) is of the type comprising main assembly means (MP) arranged on the helmet (3) intended to cooperate with complementary assembly means (MC) integral with the accessory (2).
- MP main assembly means
- MC complementary assembly means
- the attachment device (1) of the invention finds its application especially for the attachment of oxygen masks (2) on the helmets (3) of airplane pilots.
- it could also be used for other accessories which may cause discomfort for the pilot when he ejects from the cockpit of his plane and is found in the sea, for example, or be used in other applications related to different types of headphones.
- the attachment device (1) has a safety device (DS) which causes the attachment of the accessory (2) to be removed when it is in contact with a liquid.
- This safety device (DS) is of the electromechanical type and comprises at least one element of release release (4) which, when in contact with a liquid such as water, causes disassembly of the main assembly means (MP) and complementary assembly means (MC).
- Said unlocking release element is according to the invention produced by an immersion sensor (4) connected to an electronic circuit (12) supplying an electric motor (13) if necessary, the operation of which will be explained below. from the description.
- the security device (DS) comprises unlocking means, activated by the unlocking release element (4), that is to say by the electrical circuit, when the latter is in contact with the water.
- the unlocking element (4) as well as the unlocking means are advantageously arranged in the attachment device (1), which comprises a base (5) intended to be fixed to the helmet (3), and more precisely on its side wall (3a), as illustrated in figure (2), while this base (5) is detachably connected to a removable housing (6) intended to be released from its connection with the base (5) when the device is in contact with water.
- the attachment device (1) comprises locking members (7a, 7b) integral with the helmet which cooperate with attachment elements (8a, 8b) in connection with the accessory or mask (2), to attach the main assembly means (MP) with the complementary assembly means (MC), this cooperation can only take place when said locking members (7a, 7b) are positioned in a position of assembly (A), position in which they are maintained by the safety device (DS) as long as it is not triggered by contact with water.
- the locking members (7a, 7b) and the safety device (DS) which keeps them in the assembly position (A) are arranged on the main assembly means (MP ), that is to say on the helmet (3), while the hooking elements (8a, 8b) are carried by a hooking loop (9) secured to a fixing strap (10) of the mask (2).
- These hooking elements (8a, 8b) are constituted by two movable locking teeth in a manner known per se, against elastic return means.
- the base (5) advantageously carries the locking members
- Said cooperation can be stopped either by means of a manual unlocking device (11) with push buttons of conventional type which can be carried by the complementary assembly means (MC) and which makes it possible to retract the locking teeth (8a, 8b ), for example, either by triggering the safety device (DS) which moves the locking members (7a, 7b) to make them leave the assembly position A in which the cooperation with the teeth (8a, 8b) is possible, as illustrated in figures (4 and 6).
- a manual unlocking device (11) with push buttons of conventional type which can be carried by the complementary assembly means (MC) and which makes it possible to retract the locking teeth (8a, 8b ), for example, either by triggering the safety device (DS) which moves the locking members (7a, 7b) to make them leave the assembly position A in which the cooperation with the teeth (8a, 8b) is possible, as illustrated in figures (4 and 6).
- the safety device (DS) consists of an elastic biasing device (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d) intended to bias the locking members (7a , 7b) to cause them to leave their assembly position (A) and abutment means which hold the locking members in their assembly position (A) against the action of the elastic biasing device.
- Said stop means constituted by the removable housing (6) are controlled by the unlocking means which allows, when the immersion sensor (4) is in contact with a liquid, to release said stop means and thus leave the locking members (7a, 7b) leave their assembly position under the action of the elastic biasing device (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d).
- the elastic biasing device is advantageously constituted by four springs (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d) which are intended to be positioned in housings (15) of the locking members by bearing on the bottom (16) of the base (5). They are compressed when the locking members (7a, 7b) are in the assembly position (A).
- the stop means the release of which is controlled by the unlocking element (4), but implemented by the unlocking means, are formed by the removable trigger box (6) fixed and retained on the base (5) so as to prevent movement of the locking members (7a, 7b) when they are in the assembly position (A).
- the unlocking means arranged in the removable housing (6) are constituted by two actuating rods (17a, 17b), moved by a carriage (18) movable in translation and an electric motor (13) actuating a central threaded rod ( 20).
- Each of the rods is pivotally mounted at their central part, in the removable housing (6) around a pivot axis, respectively (21a, 21b), to present on one side of the axis, an external arm, and on the other side extending towards the general axis of the housing an internal arm.
- the end of each of the internal arms is connected to a central axis (22) linked to the carriage movable in translation, the said carriage being mounted on the central threaded rod (20).
- the removable housing (6) is retained on the base (5), thanks to the cooperation of several lateral locking hooks (23a , 23'a- 23b- 23'b, 24a-24'a-24b, 24'b).
- the threaded rod (20) is rotated on its axis, and therefore drives the carriage (18) in longitudinal displacement forwards along FI, which causes the pivoting of the rods according to R.
- the stop means (MB) or housing (6) When passing from the locked position to the unlocked position, the stop means (MB) or housing (6) are ejected from the base (5), under the impulse of the elastic biasing device (14a, 14b, 14c, 14d) at the same time as the locking members (7a, 7b), as shown in Figures 2, 3, 7.
- the ejection of the stop means (MB) and the locking members (7a, 7b ) is carried out towards the outside of the base (5) without any discomfort, thanks to the particular construction of the stop means, which make it possible to play the role of ejectable stop, on the one hand, and on the other of the fact that the springs (14a, 14b, 14C, 14d) are integral with their corresponding locking member (7a, 7b).
- the base in the area occupied by the attachment elements of the mask does not include a side wall.
- This construction makes it possible to produce a base (5) the general shape of which thus leaves any leisure for the locking members (7a, 7b) to eject upwards (HA), while leaving free path for the element carrying the members mask lock.
- the base (5) is advantageously fixed to the helmet by a pivot (28), allowing the base (5) to pivotally take the best angular position.
- the housing has the form of a protective cover intended to maintain a certain aesthetic appearance for the helmet, said cover being obviously not waterproof to allow contact of water with the unlocking element.
- the unlocking release element consists of an immersion sensor (4), connected to an electronic circuit.
- Figure 11 is a block diagram of the electronic system.
- the electronic system includes the immersion sensor (4) whose role is to measure the conductivity of the water when it is submerged, said sensor being connected to a transistor.
- the electronic circuit (12) comprises: an integrator (31), a power switch control (32), an electronic switch (33), a microcontroller (34), an optocoupler (35), and a comparator ( 36).
- the immersion sensor 4 consists of two electrodes (40, 41) connected to a transistor.
- the device comprises a supply (30) of electric current, such as a flat battery known per se.
- FIG 12 is a perspective view of the electronic circuit (12) with its protective envelope, which protrude the two electrodes (40, 41) constituting the sensor (4) for the presence of water.
- the two electrodes (40, 41) are advantageously made of enamelled copper wire, which may have a diameter of 0.7 millimeters. Note, as appears in Figure 13, that the two electrodes (40, 41) protrude from the removable trigger and release housing (6). Add that the said housing (6) is advantageously sealed and includes the electronic circuit (12), the battery (30) and the motor (13) and with its transmission elements (18, 20).
