Definitions

  • the invention relates to separate decorative side covers and side members for a structural bed frame or bed base with frame and legs, where said side covers may be attached to the side members and said side members may be attached to the structural bed frame or bed base in order to change the appearance of the structural bed frame or bed base.
  • US 5,715,553 describes a bed skirt for attaching to a bed frame.
  • the bed skirt is intended for providing an enclosure for the lower portion of the bed to minimise the dust accumulations under the bed and to provide a decorative enclosure for the lower part of the bed.
  • the bed skirt is attached to the bed frame by means of a retaining strip stitched to the top edge of the bed skirt.
  • a plurality of complementary fastening elements of a hook- and loop-type have the one part adhesively attached to a horizontal surface of the bed frame, preferably the mattress support, to thereby hold the bed top edge of the bed skirt in pre-selected positions along the horizontal surface of the bed frame.
  • the bed skirt being adhesively attached to the horizontal surface also constituting the mattress support may result in the bed skirt being unintentionally detached during time and because of wear when the mattress is slightly moved on the mattress support during the use of the bed.
  • the bed skirt only provides an enclosure to the lower portion of the bed and cannot be used to provide an enclosure to the upper part of the bed to partly or fully conceal the mattress.
  • This limitation of the bed skirt is both because of the bed skirt not being rigid and also because of the top edge of the bed skirt being attached to the mattress support.
