Abstract

An improvement arrangement of linear motion drive assemblies in machine units (5) making linear motions, whereby the machine unit linear motion takes place using at least one oblong (2) guide and the unit to be moved on the guide is moved by means of sliders and rollers. For replacement or renewal of the driving elements of the linear motion drive system the improvement arrangement comprises an adapter plate (12) to be fitted immobile on existing guides (2) and to which direction guides (6) are connected immobile and furthermore on them a driving system (7,11) to move the machine unit.

Description

Improvement arrangement for movement devices in a machine tool
The invention relates to a an improvement arrangement of machine units making linear motions, such as linear motion drive assemblies in machine tools, whereby the linear motion of the machine unit takes place using at least one oblong guide and the machine tool unit to be moved on the guide gets moved by means of sliders or rollers.
Previously known as improving measures of linear motion guides are grinding, scraping, replacement of sliding surfaces or, for instance, removal of plays by adjusting the tightness. By means of these solutions the motion tracks cannot be modernized, since in them the solutions are retained in their original form. Previously the machine tools have been built so that the linear motion guides fixed on the base, on which the unit is moved, are made of cast iron and of the same cast as the base, and therefore the guides cannot be changed.
Since ever greater accuracy is required of machine tools, the accuracy of machine tools now in use can hardly be improved at all, and it is usually possible to achieve by reparations the original accuracy they had as new.
By means of the improvement arrangement of linear motion drive assemblies of machine units making linear motions as per this invention a significant improvement of accuracy and operation is reached and with a quite short downtime caused to the machine. In order to achieve this target a new improvement arrangement based on an adapter plate is developed, which is characterized in that, in order to replace or renew the driving elements of the linear motion system, the improvement arrangement comprises in the existing unit an adapter plate fitted immobile at least in one guide, to which at lest one direction guide is fitted and further on it the linear motion system to move the machine unit.
The advantage of the improvement arrangement is that the improvement procedure can be carried out much faster than by previous ways, since the adapter plate can be completed in taking from the existing unit the measures on the plate and, for instance, building on it new driving elements. When the machine unit is renewed, on the driving elements of the adapter plate the former machine unit is fitted, from which the driving elements are removed and the whole unit is then lifted on the former guides, in which the adapter plate is fitted immobile. The downtime of machine is quite short and operation can be shortly restarted.
The driving elements can be modernized completely as to their mechanical and electrical functions.
In the following the invention is disclosed with reference to the enclosed drawing, where Fig. 1 is a side view of the machine tool slide guide solution. Fig. 2 is the renewal arrangement using an adapter plate as per this invention in connection with a machine tool.
Figure 1 shows the machine tool bed 1 including direction guides 2 of same cast, on which machine tool 5 is moved lengthwise. On guides 2 driving body 3 is moved, which is usually of cast iron and, furthermore, on it a transverse driving motion is arranged, whereby body 3 has a groove, where a transverse guide 4 is moved. For instance, machine unit 5 is on transverse guide 4. Often the solution also includes a vertical driving motion by means of a vertical guide. The sliding surfaces of the guides are lubricated and the driving motions usually carried out by means of the screw/nut principle, whereby the screw is a shaft as long as the driving motion.
Figure 2 shows the modernization of figure 1 machine unit driving motions by means of adapter plate 12. Adapter plate 12 is fitted on guides 2 tightened by means of screws and counterparts 13 on the edges of guides 2. Adapter plate 12 or lengthwise a series of adapter plates, if the guides are quite long, are in connection with their fitting directed on poor-shaped guides 2, for instance, by means of adjustment strips. The surface of adapter plate 12 surface is made of good quality for fitting guides 6. The guides are continuous and figure 2 shows units 7 moving on guides furnished with rotators 10. A sufficient number of units 7 are installed in order to reach a wanted accuracy in the motions. Fitted on units 7 are is as shown in the figure a traverse guide 11 and, furthermore, units T movable on it. On the above mentioned units machine unit 5 is placed alternatively, direct on units 7 moving in guides 6 there can be fitted in reverse direction units 7', whereby the machine unit would also be fitted in guide 11. The structures of driving devices that are fitted on adapter plate 12 can be chosen and they can deviate from the original structure of the machine unit meant for renewal.
The adapter plate offers the possibility to accomplish the driving devices in connection with the renewal in a way wanted and, among another things, so that the accuracy of motion of the original solution can be improved. The whole linear motion drive assembly 6,7,11,7 can be completed with adapter plate 12, while the machine unit is in operation in its original state. Then the time needed for assembling and modernization becomes short and it is advantageous to renew even quite old machines.
Of course, it is also possible to use by the renewal with the adapter plate 12 sliding guides connected on the adapter plate and linear motion carriers and transverse carriers sliding on them instead of rotating units 7.

Claims

1. An improvement arrangement of machine units (5) making linear motions, such as linear motion drive assemblies in machine tools whereby the machine unit linear motion takes place using at least one oblong (2) guide and the unit to be moved on the guide is moved by means of sliders or rollers, characterized in that for replacement or renewal of the driving elements of the linear motion drive assembly the improvement arrangement comprises an adapter plate (12) to be fitted immobile at least in one existing guide (2) and to which at least one direction guide (6) is connected immobile and furthermore on that one a driving system (7,11) to move the machine unit.
2. An improvement arrangement according to claim 1 characterized in that adapter plate (12) is adapted for direct connection to former guide (2) of the machine unit.
3. An improvement arrangement according to claim l characterized in that adapter plate (12) is adapted for direct connection to a former guide (2) of the machine unit, the driving system (7,11) and machine unit (5) already completely fitted onto said plate.

An adapter plate for the improvement arrangement of machine units (5) making linear motions, such as linear motion drive assemblies in machine tools, whereby the machine unit linear motion takes place using at least one oblong (2) guide and the unit to be moved on the guide is moved by means of sliders and rollers, characterized in that adapter plate (12) is adapted for direct connection onto a former guide (2) in order to cover it and that it comprises a counterpart (13) and fastening means, as screws, for fitting plate (12) to guide 2 by means of counterpart (13), and on the plate (12) upper face fastening means, as holes for fitting driving arrangement (6,7) onto it.
5. An adapter plate according to claim 4characterized in that adapter plate (12) is adapted to cover two adjacent guides (2) and to be fitted on them.
