Description
APPARATUS FOR REMOVING AND SCRAPING COTTON
PLANT STUMP.
The present invention refers to an apparatus for removing and scraping cotton plant stump and similar, comprising an agricultural machine for removal the cotton plant, totally scraping the stump, including roots.
As stated in the art, the cotton crop is ended after the cotton wool be collected. All remaining plant is to be removed for avoid pests, like bugs, and for prepare the cotton field for another harvest. Furthermore, nematodes and other fungus of the root system shall be destroyed, particularly, into the time imposed by local laws.
Presently, the means for destroy plant stump employed in all World basically comprises a two steps procedure wherein the first step is performed employing cut down machines having a cutting disc or knife rolls and the second step comprises a cleaning procedure employing fork for remove all plant or plant roots. This method is limited due to the following: a) In the first step, parts of plants tend to form a network which is hard to be removed from the soil in the second step and/or other further steps; b) In the second step, roots which are extended to under the alleys in the crop fields are not removed and thus the plants of said roots born again, contributing to pest growing; e c) The cost of said method is high, since the corresponding operation of the above two steps involve expensive machines and human work and offer low efficiency.
Therefore, is an object of the present invention provide a machine for removing and scraping cotton plant or similar after the crop, and perform a simple, quick and efficient destruction of the plant stump into a single step, reducing all parts of the plant to scrap having from 2cm to 3 cm. These scraps are good to be absorbed by the soil as a natural organic matter, killing all soil pests, as the nematodes, avoiding root diseases, enriching the soil for a new crop, avoiding burning and other pollution enhancing processes, as described below in reference the drawings as follows: DESCRIPTIONS OF THE DRAWINGS:
Figure 1 - is a front view of the removing and scraping module which is a component of the present invention;
Figure 2 - is a side view of the module of figure 1 ; and Figure 3 - is a perspective view of a removing and scraping machine containing five modules as illustrated in the figures 1 and 2. DETAILED DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION:
According to the above mentioned figures, the machine for removing and scraping cotton plant and similar comprises a metallic tubular structure having from 2 to 6 removing and scraping modules, each module comprising a "L" shaped metallic cutting blade (10) which is fixed to the structure by means of a transversal safety pin (11); a pair of horizontal conical rolls (12) which are placed in parallel, the rolls have externally incorporated helical transport threads (13) and the roll base having pull threads (14) after which a pair of vertical collecting rolls (15) comprising radial ribs (16) are placed, said collecting rolls (15) are positioned
prior a scraping chamber (17) inside which a scraping rotor (18) having cross blade (19) is put into rotation; the scraping chamber (17) has a upper outlet tap (20) for the plant scraps, this frame is driven via transmission unity (21 ) able coupled to the transmission shaft of the farm tractor in order to transfer force to the posterior gear (22) of the scraping rotor (18) in a simultaneous motion in relation to an intermediary gear (23) which is connected to a pair of posterior outer gear (24) of the horizontal conical rolls (12), also incorporating a set of crown and pinion (25) which are connected to said collecting rolls (15).
The operation of the present equipment is simple and can be carried out as follows: the "L" shaped blade (10) having previous defined angle and position as presently illustrated cut the soil at the side of the plant (26), forming a 10cm - 20cm grave for cutting the plant roots and approximating it to the tips of the conical rolls (12). After, the machine goes ahead through the crop alleys and the plants (26) are conducted by the horizontal conical rolls (12) and by the helical threads (13) for the pull threads (14) which spin as a mill gear pull the plant previous positioned upside down. The plant (26) is removed from the soil and conducted to the collecting rolls (15); the rolls (15) conduct the plant (26) to a scraping chamber (17) for a total scraping of the vegetal matter and providing 2 cm to 5 cm pieces. When the plant (26) are received in the collecting rolls (15) it is immediately conducted to the blades (19) of the scraping chamber (17) and the plant scraps is ejected through the tap (20) and dispersed over the soil, to be decomposed into a short time, 6 to 8 days of after cut and the scrap product is
completely dry and incorporated to the soil, providing organic matter having high quality and finishing the work cycle.
The equipment of the present invention can operate with modular set varying from 2 to 6 lines, the figure 3 illustrates, for example, a set of 5 modules. The traction is done by two 80 to 160 HP tractors working at 3 km/h to 4 km/h, but the transmission can be done by hydraulic motors of the tractor.
