Abstract

The invention relates to an elevator which is characterized by substantially reduced wear and substantially increased service life and improved operation characteristics. To this end, a gas supply unit can be displaced together with a receiving unit and can be impinged upon with pressurized gas. Said gas supply unit is used as a gas bearing for at least one sliding element (27, 28) of the receiving unit. Alternatively, a door (22) comprises at least one sliding element (27, 28) that can be impinged upon with pressurized gas.
