Abstract

A highly transparent thermoplastic film (TF) is laid between the heated stamping die (PS) and the stamping mould (PW) of a hot stamping device that is provided with waveguide channels (WG). Said film is pressed into the waveguide channels (WG) in such a way that a residual layer (RS) remains between the stamping die (PS) and the stamping mould (PW). Once the residual layer (RS) has been removed and the waveguides (WL) have been smoothed by heating, a substrate film is laminated onto the waveguides (WL). An overcladding is applied to the waveguides (WL) after their removal from the mould. Waveguides (WL) produced in this manner exhibit negligible optical attenuation.
