- Figure 1 shows an apparatus 1 according to the invention for exercising a pressure on a crate 2, comprising a press 3, said press 3 comprising two horizontal, separated plates, a bottom plate 5 and an upper plate/an upper ram 4, and a press cylinder 7, said press cylinder 7 being fastened to a securing means 8 comprising a column.
- the upper plate/the upper ram 4 comprises a substantially horizontal, rectangular plate, which in length and breadth is symmetrically mounted on a movable arrangement 12 comprising a cylinder rod. Disposed symmetrically on the upper side 4', facing towards the cylinder rod 12, there are two slide plates/bushes 14 which, facing towards the column 8, extend out from the upper plate/the upper ram 4 (see fig. 2) and surround two vertical tubes which are placed on each side of the column 8, said vertical tubes serving as a backstop (13). When the upper plate/the upper ram 4 is displaced vertically, the slide plates 14 will slide along the vertical tubes so that this stabilises the movement of the upper plate/the upper ram 4.
- the cylinder rod 12 is secured elastically to the upper side 4', in that on the underside and upper side of this there is laid an elastic disk, for example of rubber, against which a nut is locked.
- the nut is not tightened, since the result would be that no movement could arise between the ram 4 and the cylindrical rod 12.
- the flexibility is important in order to achieve uniform pressure on the upper side of a crate which is sloping and/or uneven.
- Each backstop 13 is fastened at the one end 13' to a top plate 15, said top plate 15 being further fastened to the column 8, and at the other end 13" is fastened to the rear 5' (see fig. 2) of the bottom plate.
- the bottom plate 5 which is stationary and mounted symmetrically to the column 8, comprises a surface part 5" which is parallel to the upper plate/the upper ram 4, and a front part 5'".

- the end stop 10 consists of a single tube, where this is shaped to comprise a horizontal part 10' which is fastened to the holder 18 and extends parallel with the surface part 5" of the bottom plate, a vertical part 10" which is at right-angles to the horizontal part 10' and facing upwards, and a transverse part 10'" which extends transversely to and parallel with the surface part 5" of the bottom plate.
- the end stop 10 can be adjusted lengthways, whereby the positioned crate 2 can be centred in relation to the upper plate/the upper ram 4 and is thus exposed to a uniform pressure.
- Figure 2 shows the apparatus 1 shown in fig. 1 seen from the side, comprising a column 8, a bottom plate 5, an end stop 10 and a press cylinder 7 with an upper plate/ram 4 mounted on the cylinder rod 12.

- the carousel can be turned manually or automatically by a control means 9 on the front part 5"' of the bottom plate. With the placing of a crate from a predetermined place, the compression time for the crate will hereby correspond to one revolution of the carousel.
- Figure 4 shows a section-divided cross-section taken along line A-A of the system 21 shown in fig. 3.
- a vibration damper 24 is mounted in extension of the column 8 and directed towards the bottom plate 5.
- a roller arrangement 25 which, with the mentioned manual turning, will enable the apparatus 1 to roll to the next position.
- Figure 5 shows the method of assembly for a crate which is to be pressed by the apparatus 1 according to the invention.
- the crate consists of individual parts of wood comprising two side pieces 25, two end pieces 26, a bottom plate 27 and a top plate (not shown in the drawing).
- each side piece 25 comprises two grooves, a lower groove 28 and an upper groove 29, said grooves forming a slide-way for the bottom plate 27.
- two dowel holes 31 are drilled between the grooves 28,29.
- the end pieces 26 are provided with two dowels 33 which, during the assembly, are brought into engagement with the dowel holes 31 in the side pieces.
- Other principles of assembly can be used. In the assembly of the crate, which is effected manually, the joints will thus be established only on two opposing sides, which simplifies the assembly. In the pressing process, the wooden crate is thus placed with the joints partly facing towards the upper plate/the upper ram 4 and partly towards the bottom plate 5 (see also fig. 2). Pressure thus needs only to be established from a single direction for production of a fully-assembled crate.
- the mentioned parts of the crate, side pieces 25, end pieces 26, the bottom plate 27 and the top plate, can be either rectangular or square.
- the end pieces 26 can be provided with lower grooves 28, so that the bottom plate 27 rests against these grooves.
- the crate can be made, for example, of plastic or other hard material.
