Abstract

A drink container is provided with a detachable hollow extension suitable for holding small items of personal property while the owner is engaged in sport, riding a bicycle, or other activities. The drink container may conveniently be designed to be carried on a bicycle or shaped to facilitate carrying by a runner. The detachable storage compartment may conveniently be fastened to the body of the drink container by means of screw threads (16).

Description

DRINKS BOTTLE WITH STORAGE COMPARTMENT
This invention relates to a drinks bottle with a separate storage compartment suitable for keys, coins, and other small items.
A problem frequently encountered by cyclists concerns the storage of small personal items such as keys and coins. Bicycles are not equipped with storage space for such items, or indeed for larger ones. Where bags or other storage devices are fitted they are not readily removable, and if they are removed they are bulky and inconvenient.
Bicycles are, however, often equipped with drinks bottles. Many bicycles have the facility to be fitted with a holder, commonly on the lower part of the frame, to hold a bottle containing liquid refreshment for the rider. Such bottles may also be fitted elsewhere on the machine and may be provided with tubes to carry the liquid from the bottle to the rider's mouth so that refreshment can be taken while moving.
Other sports persons also avail themselves of such drinks botdes. Bottles for use in other activities may be of different shapes and configurations. For example, runners may use drinks containers with a built-in hand grip.
According to the present invention there is provided a drink container comprising a hollow body to hold liquid, one end of which is provided with an aperture through which the liquid may be drunk The aperture may be provided with a spout or a tube and a valve or other closure device may also be fitted. Conveniently, the open end of the container may be fitted with a screw top enabling the container to be filled. At the other end of tlie body there is provided an additional empty compartment comprising an extension to the body of the container which is detachable from the rest of the bottle. Within this extension is provided sufficient storage space for small items of personal property.
The extension may be fastened to the body of the botde by any convenient means, but
a screw fastening comprising a thread on the open end of the extension piece and a
corresponding thread on the bottom of the container is considered to provide tl e
appropriate degree of security.
A specific embodiment of tl e invention will now be described by way of example with
reference to the accompanying drawing in which
a. Figure 1 shows tlie bottle with extension unscrewed from its base; and
b. Figure 2 shows the two parts screwed together.
Referring to d e drawing tl e bottle comprises a hollow cylindrical body 10 and a screw
top 12 provided with a spout which is fitted with a valve to prevent spillage 14. At the
opposite closed end of the bottle from tlie screw cap there is provided a screw thread 16
corresponding to a thread around the circumference of a cylindrical container which can
therefore be attached to the botde.
