Abstract

L'invention concerne une chambre de combustion qu'on produit en appliquant un catalyseur sur un côté d'une bande métallique striée, le côté opposée de la bande n'étant recouverte de catalyseur que sur une zone étroite longeant le bord de la bande. On replie ensuite cette bande sur elle-même vers l'avant et vers l'arrière pour former la chambre de combustion. Dans une réalisation différente, on prépare deux bandes selon le procédé décrit, et on les enroule en spirale. Dans les deux formes de réalisation, la chambre de combustion terminée présente des passages à catalyse qui alternent avec des passages sans catalyse. Cette alternance de passages à catalyse et de passages sans catalyse empêche la température de la chambre de combustion de s'élever à un niveau risquant de désactiver le catalyseur. Les passages à catalyse situés à l'extrémité d'entrée de la chambre de combustion permettent d'abaisser la température d'amorçage.
