Definitions
- the present invention relates to a sunroof system for a discoverable vehicle.
- a sunroof system for a discoverable vehicle comprising at least one rear roof element movable relative to the body of said vehicle between a closed position and a stowed position in the rear boot of the vehicle. In this stowed position, the rear roof element has its concavity turned upwards.
- the rear roof element comprises a central element movable relative to said rear roof element.
- the roof system further comprises means for guiding said central element adapted to keep said central element substantially parallel to itself during its movement between its closed position and its position stored in said rear trunk during the corresponding movement of said rear element.
- the central element which consists of the rear window of the vehicle, is guided by arms articulated on the chassis and on the rear roof element, which allows precise guidance and positioning of the rear window inside the trunk of the vehicle.
- the center window rotates in the opposite direction relative to the rear roof element.
- This sunroof system which gives full satisfaction with regard to the precision of the guidance of the rear window, has two drawbacks: - Due to the relative pivoting of the rear window relative to the rear roof element, the side edges of the rear window must be parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; - for the same reason, it is difficult to obtain a good seal at the articulation points.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks of known sunroof systems, and to propose a sunroof system of the aforementioned type of simple and reliable structure allowing both to obtain very precise guidance and positioning of the telescope. rear in all its positions, and excellent sealing over the entire periphery of the rear window in the closed position of the sunroof.
- the sunroof system for a discoverable vehicle of the aforementioned type is characterized in that the central element is connected on each side of the vehicle to the bodywork by two pivot arms respectively front and rear and is articulated on an axis respective front and rear articulation carried by a respective end of the corresponding pivot arm, the other respective end of which is articulated on the vehicle body, said pivot arms being arranged so as to guide said central element to its stowed position , each of the front and rear articulation axes along a respective predetermined trajectory.
- the central element is free to move relative to the rear roof element around an axis of articulation whose ends slide in the aforementioned slides.
- the rear roof element and the central element can be driven by any known actuation means, for example by electric motors, independent of each other.
- the rear element consists of two lateral body parts extending respectively from one side and the other of the vehicle, the central element advantageously being constituted by the rear window.
- the rear roof element thus does not comprise any transverse element capable of impeding the relative movement of the central element with respect to the two lateral parts, independent of each other, of the rear roof element.
- the rear roof element comprises on each side of the vehicle a slide extending substantially longitudinally and adapted to receive in sliding manner a respective roller integral with the corresponding rear lateral end of the element central, and each roller moves along the corresponding slide so as to adjust the movement of said central element to its stowed position as a function of the movement of the rear roof element.
- a single electric motor driving the rear roof element is sufficient to also drive the central element, each roller of which is driven by the corresponding slide.
- the movement of the central element which can be linear or non-linear, is thus adjusted relative to that of the rear roof element depending on the shape and position of each slide.
- FIG. 1 is a schematic longitudinal sectional view of a sunroof system for a discoverable vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention, the elements of this sunroof system being shown in their closed position, in an intermediate position and in their stowed position inside the rear boot of the vehicle;
- - Figure 2 is a simplified view similar to Figure 1;
- FIG. 3 is a partial sectional view along III-III in Figure 1;
- FIG. 4 is a partial sectional view along IN-IN in Figure 1, the roof being shown in its closed position;
- - Figure 5 is a partial sectional view along V-N in Figure 1, the roof being shown in its stowed position inside the rear trunk;
- - Figure 6 is a partial sectional view along NI -NI in Figure 1, the roof being in its stowed position in the rear trunk.
- the sunroof system 1 for discoverable vehicle comprises at least one rear roof element 2 movable relative to the bodywork 3 of said vehicle between a closed position and a position stored in the rear boot 4 of the vehicle, shown in solid lines in Figures 1 and 2.
- FIGs 1 and 2 There is also shown in broken lines in Figure 1 an intermediate position lb of the roof 1, the various components of said roof 1 also being referenced with the letter b.
- the rear roof element 2 in its position 2a has its concavity turned upwards.
- the rear roof element 2 comprises a central element 5 movable relative to said rear roof element 2.
- the roof system 1 further comprises means for guiding the central element 5 adapted to keep said central element 5 substantially parallel to itself during its movement between its closed position 5 and its stowed position 5a in the rear boot. 4 during the corresponding movement of the rear element 2.
- the central element 5 has, in its stowed position 5a, its concavity turned downwards as in its closed position, so as to occupy, with a possible front roof element, (see below), the volume available in the concavity of the rear roof element 2 in its position 2a.
- the rear roof element 2 comprises, on each side of the vehicle, a slide 6 extending substantially longitudinally and adapted to slidingly receive a respective roller 7 secured to the corresponding rear side end 8 of the central element 5.
- the means for guiding the central element 5 comprise means for forcing the roller 7 to move along a predetermined path 9 so as to guide said central element 5 to its row position 5a.
- the same constituent elements are arranged on the other side of the vehicle symmetrically with respect to the median longitudinal vertical plane of the vehicle parallel to the plane of Figures 1 and 2.
- the rear element 2 is constituted by two side parts 11 of the bodywork, also called quarter panels, extending respectively on one side and the other of the vehicle, the two parts 11 not being connected to each other by any transverse element.
- the central element 5 is constituted by the rear window of the vehicle, the rear window extending longitudinally from its front edge 12 to its rear edge 13 which has in longitudinal section a shape of gutter to facilitate a sealed connection with the cover, shown diagrammatically at 14, of the rear trunk 4.
- Each quarter 11 is articulated at a point of articulation 15 to the body 3 of the corresponding side of the vehicle, the point of articulation 15 is obviously arranged so that the quarter 2 is self-supporting.
- this element 2 In the case of a rear roof element 2 in a single piece consisting of two quarter panels 11.related by at least one transverse element (not shown), this element 2 would thus have an arch shape and would be articulated at two points 15 substantially at the ends of the branches of said arch.
- the sunroof system 1 also comprises a front roof element 16 articulated at each of its rear lateral ends 17 at a respective articulation point 18 carried by the front edge 20, by example, by a corresponding finger 19 projecting forward relative to the front edge 20, the rear roof element 2 or the corresponding quarter 11.
- the front roof element 16 is also connected to the body 3 on each side of the vehicle by a link arm 21 articulated at its rear end 22 on the body 3 and at its front end 23 on the front roof element 16 .
- each roller 7 is mounted on a corresponding rear hinge pin 24 carried by the rear window 5 and by an upper end 26 of a respective pivoting rear arm 27 of which the other lower end 28 is articulated at 128 on the vehicle body 3.
- each rear articulation axis 24 is carried by a respective tab 29 extending downward from the corresponding rear lateral end 8 of the rear window 5 or a corresponding lateral reinforcement 25.
- the rear window 5 is articulated at each front lateral end 30 on a front hinge pin 31 carried, on the one hand, by the corresponding lateral reinforcement 25, on the other hand, by an upper end 32 of a pivoting front arm 33, the other lower end 34 of which is articulated at 134 on the body 3 of the vehicle.
- Each front articulation axis 31 is carried by a respective tab 35 extending downwards from the front lateral end 30 of the rear window 5 or from the corresponding lateral reinforcement 25.
- the trajectory of said axis 31 is indicated at 40 in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- each roller 7 can be fixedly mounted on the corresponding hinge pin 24. Otherwise, it would be possible to provide that the axis 24 carrying the roller 7 can move laterally relative to the corresponding arm 27 which necessarily pivots, like the front arm 33 " , in a longitudinal vertical plane.
- the operation of the system sunroof according to the embodiment which has just been described is simple.
- An electric gear motor (not shown) or any other actuating means, for example hydraulic or manual, controls the pivoting in one direction or the other of each quarter 11 or of the rear roof element 2.
- the rear window 5 can be actuated in parallel by another actuation means - independent of the first and controlling one of the arms 27 or 33. In this case, the slides 6 and rollers 7 are unnecessary and can be eliminated.
- each of the front arms 33 and rear arms 27 has a fixed shape and length, so that the paths 40 and 9 are circular paths.
- the slides 6 and the rollers 7 are arranged in such a way that, at any time during the opening or closing of the system sunroof, the rear window 5 is on the side of the quarter panels 11 facing the interior of the vehicle.
- each quarter panel forces the corresponding roller 7 to move on its respective trajectory 9, which causes the rear window 5 to move, guided by the pivot arms 27, 33.
- a sunroof system for a discoverable vehicle has thus been described which completely meets the aforementioned aims of the invention.
- the lateral reinforcement 25, the outer edge 36 of said reinforcement 25, the seal 37 and the inner edge 39 of the quarter panel 2 need not be parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, shown diagrammatically by the arrow 10 in Figures 1 and 2.
- rear pivoting arms 27 and front 33 pivot in respective vertical planes parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, the articulation axes extending in the transverse direction of the vehicle perpendicular to this longitudinal axis.
- the lateral edges of the rear window 5 therefore do not need to be parallel to said longitudinal axis.
