Leiterfolien finden in zunehmendem Maße Verwendung, insbesondere im Automobilbereich. Bislang war es üblich, zur Versor- gung elektrischer Verbraucher und zur Signalübertragung in Automobilen Kabelbäume vorzusehen. Diese Kabelbäume müssen manuell gefertigt werden, weisen aufgrund der Einzelisolierungen der verwendeten Kabel ein hohes Gewicht und eine große Dicke auf und sind schwierig zu kontaktieren. Leiterfolien können dagegen mit einer Vielzahl nebeneinander verlaufender Leiterbahnen hergestellt werden, wobei eine Isolierung nur an der Oberfläche erforderlich ist, während die Leiterbahnen untereinander bereits durch Beabstandung gegeneinander isoliert sind. Die Verwendung hinreichend breiter Leiterbahnen erlaubt zugleich eine sehr dünne Ausgestaltung der Leiteranordnung.
