Definitions
- the present invention concerns a device for placing of paint brushes on a pant tin.! Ihe" device may also be utilised to remove paint from the brush, in a way that excess of paint drains back into the tin. The device will thus prevent the paint from dripping into the flange or on the outside of the tin.
- the device consists of a conical funnel shaped component that is fastened to a holding device with a permanent magnet.
- the magnet will keep the assembled device to the side of the tin.
- the invention is therefore particularly suitable for paint tins made of a magnetic material.
- paint brush When painting is being executed, it is often a problem to put the paint brush down. This is especially relevant during work in a ladder, by changing the position of the body and localisation.
- the paint brush is often placed on the rim of the paint tin or tried to be fastening along the rim of a body piece. Often paint drips outside the tin or around the closing rim of the tin, or that the paint brush falls into the tin or on the ground. Hardened paint residues along the rim may involve inconveniences, as the lid do not tightens sufficient.
- Some brushes are produced in a way that they can be fastened on the rim or the flange of the tin.
- GB 1,190,428 describes a universal holder for paint brushes.
- the holder comprises a body piece, which by means of a magnet is secured to the side of the paint tin, and the other end is bent in an angle over the rim.
- the paint brush is secured to the body piece by means of another magnet.
- This universal holder thus assumes that the paint brush has a magnetic edge or the like.
- US 5,072,868 describes a holder for brushes that can be secured to a paint tin, a ladder, a belt or the like. The paint brush holder is tight in the bottom so that no paint drains out, and the holder is secured by means of a flexible clip.
- FR 2 693 885 describes a paint brush holder to be secured on the lip of a paint tin and is secured outside of the tin.
- the paint brush holder has a tight bottom for collecting of paint.
- the present invention concerns a device for supporting of paint brushes on a paint tin wherein excess paint drains into the tin when the brush is not in use, characterised by that it comprises a conical shaped component for placing the paint brush, a holding device with a magnet for attachment on a paint tin.
- the device may also be utilised to remove paint from the brush in case it is soaked in too much paint.
- the device according to the invention is produced in a way that it can be used to all types of paint tins made of metal, preferably steel.
- the conical oval device according to the invention is made of different interchangeable sizes, while the holding device with the permanent magnet makes use of all the conical devices to be utilised.
- the conical part is made of a flexible material, preferably plastic.
- Fig. 1 is the paint brush holder according to the invention located on a tin of paint.
- Fig. 2 is the paint brush holder seen from above.
- Fig. 3 is the paint brush holder with variable sizes seen from a side.
- Fig. 4 is the paint brush holder with variable sizes seen from above.
- Fig. 5 is the device seen from a side with the brush holder wherein the back wall of the conical part is withdrawn to provide better access to the content of smaller paint tins.
- the paint brush holder comprises a holding device 3 and a conical part 1.
- the holding device 3 is made of a rigid material, preferably metal (e. g. steel).
- a suitable permanent magnet 4 is mounted on the lower part of the holding device. The magnet 4 secures the holding device 3 to the side of a paint tin 5.
- the present invention is preferably intended for paint tins or pain buckets of a magnetic material as steel or similar.
- a paint brush 7 is located into the conical part 1 in a way that the bristles are resting towards the bottom of the conical walls. Excess paint will drain through the opening of the bottom of the conical part 1 and drip 8 back into the paint in the tin 5.
- the invention provides an easy way to put a paint brush down, and on the same time the spill of paint is being obviated as excess of paint is returning back into the tin 5.
- the conical part 1 is secured to the holding device 3 by means of a slit 2 in one of the sides.
- Figure 2 is the paint brush holder 1 seen from above, but the paint brush is removed.
- the paint brush holder 1 has a conical form and has an opening in the bottom so that the paint returns back into the tin.
- the paint brush device 1 is fastened by the magnet to the side of the paint tin 5, and the holder is on the inside of the flange 6 of the tin.
- the paint brush holder only occupies a small part of the opening of the tin, and do not prevent access to the paint in the tin during the work.
- the conical part 1 can be provided in different sizes, wherein the user can assemble the size that suits the actual dimension of the brush. In the figures there are shown three sizes, but other dimensions and embodiments can be relevant.
- the upper edge of the conical part 1 is sloping, but it may also have a horizontal edge.
- the paint brush holder according to the invention can be used for brushes of different sizes and shapes, i. e. circular, oblong or square-shaped brushes.
- the holding device 3 is parallel with the vertical side of the paint tin 5, and is bended inwards over the flange 6 of the tin. The bending corresponds approximately to the width of the top flange 6.
- the upper part of the holding device with the slit 2 for the conical part is approximately vertical.
- the conical part 1 is being fastened to the holding device in a slit 2 on the outside of the holding device.
- the magnet 4 is in the figures mounted on the lower part of the holding device 3, but it can be possible that the magnet extends along the part of the holding device which is on the outside of the paint tin 5. There is no magnet on the part of the holding device that is inward bent over the top flange 6, or further upwards.
- Figure 5 is showing an alternative embodiment wherein the brush device 1 is mounted in a way that the lower part extends downwards into the tin 5 and prevents the holding device from falling out.
- the paint brush 7 During removing of the paint tin and changing of the working position, the paint brush 7 has a safe and secure fitting, and spill of paint is being prevented.
- the brush device can take many variations regarding shape and appearance.
- the lower part 9 of the brush holder 1 can be sloped, which will lead to that the device 1 will be placed somewhat beyond the upper flange 6 of the tin 5. This embodiment and placing of the conical part will provide better access to the paint in tins with smaller diameter.
- the painter By using the brush device according to the invention the painter will obtain a place to put the paint brush down, and in that way obviate spill of paint.
- the present invention will also involve that work in the ladder will be performed in a more safe way, as the painter has both hands free.
- the brush device can in addition be used for removing of excess paint in case the brush is dipped in too much paint.
