Abstract

A paint brush support or holder comprises a bracket that fixes onto metal/plastic paint-cans using magnetic surfaces (N, 0, I), an adjustment mechanism (D, E 0) and an elastic band retaining mechanism (P, Q). When in-situ, the platform (A) holds the brush (S) in place by its magnetised surface (C), attracted to the metal strip on conventional paintbrushes (T). The platform is angled slightly so paint will drip back into the paint can if brushes (U) are saturated in paint. The scraping surface (B) allows excess paint to be scraped off the brush after dipping which falls back into the can (R) and not onto can rim. The bracket, as a whole, allows the painter to carry the paint can and brush as a single unit. The support has built in pry bar and handle (K, H) to pry open the can lid.

Description
PainterMate Featuring a bracket that fixes on the side of a paint Can, which has many functions to aid the painter, E.g.: (1): Opens paint Can. (2): Prevents paint spillage down the outside of the Can and onto the floor. (3): Stops the paint brush flIing onto the floor or into the Can when not in use. (4): Allows the painter to walk around or climb whilst comfortably holding the paint Can without also having to hold the paint brush. (5): Paint brush is positioned on the bracket in such a way that allows the paint to drip off into the Can, so no more need to rest the brush on top of the Can, from rim to rim, which fills the nra with paint and soaks the handle in paint and induces spillage.
Figure.!: Side view and fixing position on paint Can. Figure.2: Under view and fixation on Can. Figure.3: Rear view fixation using elastic band for use on plastic paint Cans where the brackets magnetic features cannot be employed.
Figure.!: Before bracket is placed on paint Can the lid has to be opened to access the paint. To achieve this the bracket is held by the handle base (H). The piy bar (K) is then situated under the lid rim. A downward movement action of handle base (H) pivots the piy bar (K), which lifts the lid of the tin and expose paint.
The bracket is then held on the paint Can by placing the retaining dowel (0) over the paint Can rim (M) and the magnetised surface of the dowel (N) and magnetised area of retaining wings (I) holds the bracket firmly in place on the Can (L). The adjustment screw (D) is turned inwards using the adjustment knob (E), which in turn moves the adjustment dowel (G) to the outer edge of the Can rim (M).
The adjustment mechanism (E,D,G) are sufficient to hold the top half of the bracket in place plastic paint Can. Fig.2&3: The Retaining wings (J) have on there surface a pair of retaining hooks (P), which are designed to hook a strong elastic band (Q). The elastic band attaches from hook to hook (F) via the full span of the paint Can (L) (Fig.2). This is sufficiently strong enough to hold the bracket onto the paint Can.
Fig.1&2: The Paintbrush platform (A), is where brush (S) lays on top. This platform has a magnetised surface (C) which attracts the metal strip (T) on the painthrush, thus holding it in place. The paint Can may be carried up a ladder without fear of the brush falling into the paint (W) or onto the floor. The paint laden end of the brush (U) is faced towards (B) and overhangs slightly. The paintbrush platform (A) is also angled downwards slightly towards the Can so that any paint on its surface will run back into the it (R). This means there will be no paint in the rim at the top of the Can (M), or any running down its outside edge (V), resulting in a clean work surface.
When the brush has been dipped in the paint, the excess paint is scraped away by scraping the brush over the scraping surface (B). The excess paint (R) then drips naturally into the paint tin, not in the rim.
