  • Fig. 12A in the sitting position, the feet of patient 100 touch the floor. Because of the structure of inflatable support apparatus 4, patient 100 can rotate himself/herself about the axis of cable 158. Patient 100 can also do pendulum movements with his/her feet. It is to be emphasized that the movement and flexure of the knees and activation of the foot muscles are very important, especially for invalids sitting or lying in bed for long periods of time. The flexure and activation significantly reduce muscle degeneration.
