Definitions

  • This invention relates to container bags and in particular relates to container bags for carrying loads in the range 0.5 - 2 tonnes and known as flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBC's).
  • FIBC's flexible intermediate bulk containers
  • FIBC Flexible intermediate bulk containers are increasingly employed in cargo handling and transporting situations, especially for the carriage of particulate or pulverulent material.
  • a typical FIBC will be manufactured from a fabric woven from a polyolefin tape and have integral lifting loops. Examples of such containers are described in our UK patent number 1591091.
  • FIBC's have to meet various national and international safety standards, for example it is normal to require a 5:1 safety ratio, that is an FIBC rated at 1 tonne should not break under loads of less than 5 tonnes.
  • FIBC provided with a woven inner lining characterised in that both the body and lining have conductive threads woven into the fabric and in that the liner and the body fabric are connected to one another electrically.
  • conductive threads in an FIBC fabric has been proposed previously in bags not having liners.
  • Such FIBC's may also have conductive threads integrally with, for example woven into, the fabric from which the lifting loops are formed so that when the bag is lifted by, for example, a fork lift truck, the loops and hence the bag body are earthed by the tines of the fork lift truck.
