Definitions
- the present invention relates to a snow-clearing device.
- Equipment for clearing snow is generally distinguished into bladed snowplows and rotary snowplows, which are in turn divided into single-stage and two-stage snowplows.
- the former are constituted by a body, with a front snow inlet and with an upper outlet for expelling the snow, and by an axial rotary cutter which is accommodated in the body and which, by rotating, collects the snow from the front inlet and conveys it to the outlet.
- an almost vertical discharge pipe rises from the upper outlet and can be directed so as to remove the snow in the form of a jet.
- Two-stage snowplows are constituted by a front rotor with vanes which rotates at high speed, is interposed between the rotary cutter and the outlet, and propels the snow, collected by the rotary cutter, through the discharge pipe at considerably greater distances than single-stage snowplows.
- Particular single-stage snowplows are also known which are constituted by a drum with a front circular inlet and a lateral outlet which is provided with a rotary front turbine which performs the same action as the already described rotary cutter.
- the drum has two spade-shaped front tabs which are provided with vertically adjustable sliders.
- both single-stage and two-stage snowplows are in the form of accessories, like cutter bars, harrows et cetera, that can be applied to self-propelled cultivators without an onboard driver.
- Small motorized vehicles are also known which are provided with a single- or two-stage snowplow and can be used only to clear snow.
- a first drawback of these devices is the fact that the purchase of a snowplow, and of the associated self-propelled cultivator, entails a significant financial commitment. Such commitment is justified if the self-propelled cultivator is also used for other activities, for example for gardening or for tilling small plots of land, but is found to be excessively onerous in urban environments, for example for shopkeepers, for operators of fuel stations, et cetera, since the self-propelled cultivator remains unused for the remaining part of the year. On the other hand, the purchase of a dedicated means also has the same disadvantages.
- a second drawback is the fact that the use of the snowplow is strictly related to the constancy of snowfall, and while the snowplow may be used frequently one year, no need arises for it the next year.
- An aim of the present invention is to overcome the drawbacks noted above in conventional snowplows by providing a snow-clearing device which is inexpensive, compact and easily usable even by unskilled operators.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a device which allows quick assembly and disassembly with the aid of a small number of commonly known tools.
- the device may comprise an open shell and a front rotor which is accommodated in the enclosure formed by the shell, and the shell is associable with the motor body of the bush-cutter by means of a power take-off provided on the bush-cutter.
- Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view of the device according to the invention.
- Figure 3 is a side view of the device according to the invention.
- Figure 4 is a partially sectional side view of the device according to the invention.
- Figure 5 is a rear view of the device according to the invention;
- Figure 6 is a perspective view of the portable tool to which the snow-clearing device is applied.
- the snow-clearing device is applied to a portable tool 8 which has a motor body 13 of the per se known type, such as for example a bush-cutter, instead of the so- called cutting means.
- the device 7 is substantially composed of an open shell 9, which is applied to a structure 10 of the tool 8, and of a front rotor 1 1 , which is arranged in an enclosure 12 formed by the shell 9 and is connected to the motor body 13 of the tool 8 by virtue of a power take-off 14 provided on the structure 10. Since the power take-off 14 is generally provided slightly at an angle to the horizontal, the shell 9, and accordingly the rotor 11 , are inclined slightly backward so as to adapt to the power take-off 14.
- the shell 9 is constituted by a drum 15, in which the snow to be cleared is collected and ground by the rotor 11 , and by a discharge pipe 16 for removing, in the form of a jet, the snow being discharged.
- the drum 15 has a circular front inlet 17 for the snow to be cleared, a lateral opening 18 for discharging the snow, and a central hole 19, which is formed in a bottom 20 and through which the power take-off 14 enters.
- the lateral opening 18 is formed along the entire height of a curved surface 21 of the drum 12 and is formed proximate to the portion of the curved surface 21 that lies closest to the ground, so that the snow collected at that level is discharged almost immediately.
- the discharge pipe 16 extends from the lateral opening 18 and protrudes laterally on the right side of the drum 15, with a slight upward inclination with respect to the horizontal of approximately 40°.
- the discharge pipe 16 is approximately shaped like a channel with a U-shaped cross-section in which, at the lateral opening 18, lateral walls 22 form, with a bottom 23, almost right-angled edges and, at the outlet section, the lateral walls 22 taper onto the bottom 23.
- the sleeve 39 is rigidly coupled to the pole 10 by means of a clamp which fastens the sleeve against the pole and by means of an engagement screw which is inserted in the sleeve and partially inserted in the rod, preventing mutual rotation.
- a bevel gear pair (not shown) for transmitting motion between the motor 13 and the power takeoff 14 is accommodated within the cup-shaped portion 40.
- the cutting means is separated from the power take- off 14. Then the clamp of the sleeve 39 is loosened and the engagement screw is unscrewed at least partially so as to free the sleeve 39 with respect to the pole 10.
- the sleeve 39 is turned with respect to the pole 10 manually through a half-turn in either direction until the power take-off 14 is directed upward.
- the clamp and the screw are tightened so as to fix the sleeve 39 in the new position, as shown in Figure 3.
- the engagement member 27 is fixed in the portion of the pole that lies proximate to the sleeve 39 and then the shell 9 is moved closer to the power take-off 14 so that the power take-off enters the enclosure 12 through the hole 19 and the end portions of the brackets 25 and 26 are accommodated in the corresponding slots 29.
- the shell 9 is adapted onto the cup-shaped portion 40, and once the optimum arrangement has been found the connector 24 is fixed by virtue of the screw adjustment means 31.
- the described device achieves the intended aim and objects, since it allows to clear snow very easily, sparing the user the effort noted both with a conventional shovel and with motorized snowplows.
- the device is also economically advantageous, since it is provided by means of a very small number of components.
