APPARATUS FOR A BOAT FOR HAULING IN AN ANCHOR AND FOR PULLING THE BOAT ON A TRAILER
The invention relates to an apparatus for a sailing boat or otorboat to exercise tensile force to a cable or chain, to execute specific handlings with the vessel or boat such as hauling in the anchor and pulling the vessel or boat on a movable frame or trailer, by which the vessel is mostly a pleasure craft, such as a sailing boat or motor boat.
A similar apparatus is roughly known in the English patent no. GB 2171475A, titled 'Multispeed Winch".
Winches for sailing boats and motorboats have become very popular, by which also a brief possibility exists to switch the winch between several transmission gears in order to regulate speed and winch power by means of, for example switching the rotation direction of a torque input device. The driving is executed by rotation of the shaft or crank-shaft mechanism, by which several crew members work together in order to excercise more power to the mentioned shaft mechanism. Said English patent provides a set of transmission routes, between which a user can choose, for example, by switching a rotation direction of an input device, by which two of the transmission routes in the set have a previously fixed relation between their outlet and a given input speed. The winch also has a selectable alternative input for driving the winch when the winch finds itself in at least one of the transmission routes of a first transmission set, the alternative inlet has an outlet mechanism for driving in a rotation direction with two different speeds as a response to the rotation of the input mechanism. The different input speeds and winch forces on one hauling drum of the anchor winch can only be
achieved by means of other transmission gears (limited possibilities) .
The above mentioned and further known apparatus has several disadvantages, that from a given input speed several, but very limited input speeds and winch forces can be followed, resulting from the fixed transmission gears of the hauling drum, which is only singular by present and possibly interchangeable with regards to the hauling drum. Further the input speed and the input torque are mostly generated with a limited capacity (such as a 12 Volt electromotor or manual force) , which means, that the winch speeds and winch power are relatively small.
Besides that, for the anchor winch cable and for the trailer winch cable, different hauling in drums are needed so several devices are needed, or separate interchangeable hauling drums must be assembled and disassembled, which is a cumbersome way, takes a lot of time and therefore is expensive .
It is intended that the present invention avoids the aforementioned disadvantages by providing an apparatus characterised in that the apparatus is a combination device with an anchor and trailer winch with a single motor with motor shaft to separately drive a hauling drum via a single reversable switching gear box, e.g. for an anchor cable winch on one hand and e.g. a hauling drum for the trailer cable winch on the other hand, to execute the mentioned specific handlings to the mentioned vessel or boat.
A further improvement of the device according the invention is, that the mentioned reversable switching gear box is a gear reduction box and contains a gear transmission to the trailer winch, which is approximately 3 times larger than the gear transmission to the anchor winch.
The advantage of this construction is, that by a single reverse movement of the gear reduction box the correct hauling speed and power is reached for the anchor cable as well as for the trailer cable. Further the device according to the invention is developped in such a way that the rotational frequency of the motor shaft of the anchor winch hauling drum is reduced from approximately 3000 revolutions per minute (rpm) to approximately 48 rpm, preferably by which at a certain diameter of the mentioned hauling drum, the hauling speed is approximately 16 metres per minute.
The advantage of this is a preference hauling speed of the anchor cable of 16 metres per minute.
Besides, the device according the invention is further developped in such a way that the rotational frequency of the motor shaft of the trailer winch hauling drum is reduced from approximately 3000 rpm to approximately 16 rpm, by which at a certain diameter of the trailer winch hauling drum, the hauling speed is preferably approximately 5 metres per minute.
The advantage of this is a preferance hauling speed of the trailer cable of 5 metres per minute.
Besides, the device according the invention is further developped in such a way that the motor is an electromotor with a capacity between 5 and 30 Amperes and a rotation speed of the motor shaft of approximately 3000 rpm and a voltage of 2x 12V = 24V, supplied by two serially connected batteries .
The advantage of this is a more than sufficient capacity supplied to the anchor cable as well as the trailer cable with relatively simple components (12V battery) and connections.
A further development of the device according the invention is, that the material for the gearbox and for the protruding motor shaft is RVS316, that the material for the anchor winch is anodized aluminium, and that the material for the trailer winch hauling drum is cast iron or the material for the trailer winch hauling drum is RVS316. The advantage of this is, that oxidation has been avoided.
Now the invention will be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 is a top view of the boat with the apparatus according the invention in which the anchor cable of the winch is activated; Fig. 2 is a top view of the boat with the apparatus according the invention in which the trailer chain of the winch is activated; Fig. 3 is a cut-away top view of the apparatus according the invention with activated anchor cable switched on via the hauling drum gear reduction box; Fig. 4 is a cut-away top view of the apparatus according the invention with activated trailer cable switched on via the hauling drum gear reduction box ; and Fig. 5 is a sectional view of the apparatus according the invention over the line V-V in figure 4.
In figure 1 and 2 the (hauling) apparatus according the invention is indicated with 1, which is mounted on the stem of the boat 2. In figure 1 the anchor cable 3 with the anchor 4 is connected to the hauling drum of the rear cable 5.
The electromotor 6 of the apparatus according the invention 1 is energized by two serially connected 12V batteries 7 and 8, so the total power is 24V.
In figure 2 the trailer chain 9 is connected to the trailer (car trailer) 10 on one hand and connected to the hauling drum for the trailer cable 11 on the other hand.
Figure 3 illustrates the apparatus according the invention 1 in a partially cut-away top view, by which the gear reduction box 12 with gear transmissions is shown in greater detail. The electromotor 6 is supplied with a switch box 13 and protruding motor shaft 14 with worm 15 and worm wheel 25, which couples to the toothed worm wheel shaft 16. The bus 19 coupled by means of gear set 17 and 18 is shifted to the direction of the arrow A by means of a key way and the like (see figure 4) connected to the driving shaft 21 of the anchor cable 5 hauling drum. The rotational frequency of the motor shaft 14 of 3000 rpm is hereby reduced to approximately 48 rpm, so that a hauling speed of 16 metres per minute of the anchor cable 3 is achieved, being a preference speed.
Figure 4 illustrates the apparatus according the invention 1 in a partially cut-away top view, by which the bus 19 coupled by means of a gear set 17 and 18 is shifted in the direction of arrow B, so that the key way and the like 20 are disconnected from the driving shaft 21. The gear wheel 18 is now connected to the gear wheel 22 and also with the shaft 23.
On the shaft 23 is also a gear wheel 24, which couples with gear wheel 25, which gear wheel 25 is coupled to shaft 26, to which the hauling drum for the trailer chain 11 is fixedly mounted in a rotational way. In the described situation in figure 4 the electromotor 6 drives the hauling drum for the trailer chain 11. The rotational frequency of
the motor shaft 14 of 3000 rpm is hereby reduced to approximately 16 rpm, so that a hauling speed of 5 m/min of the trailer cable 9 is achieved, being a preference speed.
Figure 5 illustrates a sectional view over the line V-V of figure 4. The sectional view clearly shows that the worm 15 on the motor shaft 14 activates the gear wheel 25, which next activates shaft 16. Further can be referred to the descriptions of the figures 3 and 4.
Finally it has to be emphasised, that the above description constitutes the preferred embodiment of the present invention, and that further modifications are possible without departing the scope of this patent document and the accompanying claims.
