It is covered by a sterile dressing and is opened only when accomplishing the daily lengthening, which is usually from 1 to 1 ,5 mm.   • the . intramedullary device for fixation, compression and traction of the femur possesses the possibilities both of the interlocking nails for static fixation and those of the external fixators for dynamic compression and traction, avoiding at the same time the above-mentioned disadvantages of those methods. Abstract

L'invention concerne un dispositif constitué de deux tubes métalliques (4) et (5) placés l'un dans l'autre. Le tube intérieur ou élément coulissant (5) porte à son extrémité supérieure un filetage pourvu d'une vis d'avance (1). La vis (1) traverse un coussinet (2) soudé au tube extérieur (4). Un élément de butée (3) est placé au-dessous et au-dessus du coussinet. Des trous sont pratiqués dans les parois opposées du tube extérieur (4) immédiatement sous l'extrémité inférieure de la vis (1). Sous les trous, des fentes longitudinales sont pratiquées d'une manière bilatérale sur le tube extérieur (4). L'élément coulissant (5) comporte des trous de la même taille que ceux du tube extérieur (4). Au-dessus desdits trous, des fentes longitudinales, ménagées d'une manière bilatérale, ont une taille correspondant à celle des fentes sur le tube extérieur (4). Les trous sur le tube extérieur sont disposés à l'opposé des fentes sur l'élément coulissant tandis que les trous sur l'élément coulissant sont disposés à l'opposé des fentes sur le tube extérieur. Le dispositif peut servir à fixer, à comprimer et à tirer, plutôt qu'à fixer d'une manière passive uniquement.
