Abstract

The apparatus is used in orthopaedics and traumatology. It can achieve simultaneous fixation, compression and distraction of the thigh or the shin bone in the treatment of different new and delayed fractures, pseodoarthroses, shortening or extension of a lower limb, deformations and tumours of that bone. The apparatus consists of two concentrically fitted metal tubes - internal (5) and external (4) with a facility for telescopic sliding of the internal (5) in the external (4) tube. Both metal tubes are made in the form of a Kiuncherov nail. The internal metal tube-slider (5) in its upper end has female threading threading matching a supply screw (1). Screw (1), in its upper part, goes through a stopper welded to the external tube (4) and bilaterally limited by spacer bushings. Holes at equal distance from each other (1-2 cm) are machined immediately under the lower end of screw (1), on the opposite sides of the external tube (4). Under the distal hole, on both sides on the tube (4) there is one longitudinal notch the length of which can vary. Holes of the same sizes like those of the external tube (4) are also made in the internal tube-slider (5) but in its distal part. Over them, on the slider (5), two-way longitudinal notches are machined matching the notches on the external tube (4). In this way the holes on the external tube (4) are fitted exactly opposite the motches of the slider (5), and the holese on the slider are positioned in the same manner against the notches of the external tube.
