Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for sterilizing water which flows through a sanitary device
- a housing which has an inlet and an outlet for the water
- the lamp has a substantially rod-shaped lamp body
- the lamp body of a material consisting essentially of a material which is transparent to UV light Protection tube is surrounded, which prevents a direct flow against the lamp body;
- the lamp body is supported on the protective tube by means of holding means which allow only a small amount of heat to be transferred between the protective tube and the lamp body.
- An essentially rod-shaped lamp body has a relatively large lateral surface, past which the water to be sterilized flows.
- the water is exposed to the radiation from the UV lamp during the entire by-pass from the upstream to the downstream end of the flow space and can therefore be effectively disinfected. It does not flow directly into contact with the lamp body, but is separated from it by a protective tube that is transparent to UV light.
- This protective tube serves to decouple the sensitive lamp body from direct water contact. Because of the holding means that support the lamp body against the protective tube and only form a small thermal bridge between the lamp body and the protective tube, the temperature of the lamp body is practically not determined by the temperature of the protective tube, which is determined by the heat exchange with the water flowing past influenced. The lamp can therefore be kept at an optimal operating temperature at all water extraction conditions, at which it has the best disinfection effect.
- the holding means are supported on an inner lateral surface of the protective tube.
- Such an arrangement for supporting the lamp body within the protective tube is simple and does not pose a high requirement for the shape of the holding means Expectations .
- the holding means advantageously lie only over edges on the inner circumferential surface of the protective tube. This reduces the area that contributes to heat transfer compared to a flat support.
- the holding means are particularly advantageously only in contact with tips on the inner lateral surface of the protective tube. This leads to an even greater reduction in the area that can contribute to heat transfer.
- the holding means viewed in the direction of the lamp axis, have the outer contour of a polygon.
- Such holding means have an uncomplicated geometry and can accordingly be manufactured inexpensively.
- the polygon is a triangle.
- a triangle has the minimum number of outer edges with which a stable support of the lamp body on the inner surface of the protective tube is possible.
- a resilient connection is formed by at least one of the holding means between the lamp body and the protective tube.
- a resilient connection can absorb thermal stresses that occur during operation of the UV lamp. It also protects the lamp body from damage caused by vibrations, e.g. can be generated by the flowing water or the operation of the UV lamp itself.
- the holding means advantageously support the lamp body off at both ends. This ensures a stable and secure mounting of the lamp body.
- the lamp body has protrusions on the end face and the holding means are attached to the protruding protrusions on the lamp body side.
- Such projections can be caused, for example, by the manufacturing process of the lamp body. The attachment to these projections eliminates the
- projections electrical connection means of the UV lamp are advantageous.
- projections designed in this way also fulfill the function of making electrical contact with the UV lamp.
- Figure 1 shows a tub spout, which is provided with a device for the disinfection of water flowing through;
- Figure 2 shows a section through Figure 1 along line II -II on an enlarged scale.
- the tub spout designated as a whole by the reference numeral 1, comprises an essentially hollow cylindrical housing jacket 2, which is closed at one end in FIG. 1 on the right, adjacent to a building wall, by a mounting base 3 and at its opposite end by an outlet head 4.
- Mounting base 3 and outlet head 4 are each through a housing shell 2 penetrating grub screw 5 or 6 mounted on the housing shell 2, which engages in a circumferential groove 7 or 8 on the mounting base 3 or the outlet head 4.
- the water to be removed through the tub outlet 1 is first of all via a water inlet connection (not shown in the drawing) into an annular inlet 10 of the tub outlet 1, which is located within the mounting base
- the inlet 10 Radially on the inside, the inlet 10 is delimited by a receiving base 11 for holding a rod-shaped UV lamp, designated overall by 12.
- a rod-shaped UV lamp designated overall by 12.
- the flow space 17 has essentially the shape of a hollow cylinder, the outer jacket surface of which is formed by the housing jacket 2 and the inner jacket surface of which is formed by a protective tube 19.
- the protective tube 19 is closed at its upstream end by the receiving base 11 and closed in one piece at its downstream end. It consists of UV-permeable quartz glass.
- the flow-through is on its downstream end space 17 limited by a passage insert 20.
- the throughflow space 17 is sealed to the outside by sealing rings 21 and 22, which lie in corresponding circumferential grooves of the mounting base 3 and the passage insert 20.
- the passage insert 20 is fixed to the outlet head 4 by a grub screw 23 which penetrates the outlet head 4 and which engages in a circumferential groove 24 on the passage insert 20.
- the radial outer surface of the subspace 26 is formed by a ring 27 which is permeable to UV light, around which two sealing rings 28 and 29 are arranged, which lie in corresponding circumferential grooves of the through insert 20 or the outlet head 4 and the subspace 26 to the outside seal.
- the water finally flows from the subspace 26 into an outlet space 30 which is delimited by the downstream end of the protective tube 19 and the outlet head 4 and communicates with an aerator 31.
- a lamp body 32 of the UV lamp 12 is enclosed by the protective tube 19.
- the lamp body 32 has edge regions 33 at both ends, the diameter of which is somewhat smaller than that of the central region.
- an electrode 34 or 35 is attached, the inner end of which protrudes into the central region of the lamp body 32.
- the electrical connections of the electrodes 34 and 35 which are led out from both ends of the lamp body 32 at the front are designated by 36 and 37, respectively.
- Each connection 36 or 37 comprises two pins protruding from the end faces of the lamp body 32.
- a holding element 38 is positively attached to the two pins of the electrical connection 36, and a holding element 39 is also positively attached to those of the electrical connection 37.
- a spacer 40 is placed on the pins of the electrical connection 37 between the end face of the lamp body 32 facing the receiving base 11 and the holding element 39 there. Electrical connection lines for connecting the UV lamp 12 to a mains supply device are not shown in FIG. 1 for reasons of clarity.
- FIG. 2 in conjunction with FIG. 1 it can be seen how the holding elements 38 and 39, which have a triangular cross section, support the lamp body 32 of the UV lamp 12 in the protective tube 19.
- the lamp body 32 and the protective tube 19 are coaxial to one another in such a way that between the outer
- the outer surface of the lamp body 32 and the inner outer surface of the protective tube 19 maintain a constant radial distance between the edge regions 33 of the lamp body 32.
- the holding elements 37 and 38 lie against the inner circumferential surface of the protective tube 19 in such a way that they are in contact with the latter only via peripheral edge regions 41.
- FIG. 2 also shows that the annular subspace 26 radially inwards from the protective tube 19 and radially is limited to the outside by the ring 27.
- the outlet head 4 has recesses 42 which, in conjunction with the ring 27 which is permeable to UV light, permit a visual check of the operation of the UV lamp from the outside, as will be explained below.
- the recesses 42 or the outlet head 4 in the section of FIG. 2 are delimited by a sealing ring 44 made of translucent material, which is inserted over a corresponding circumferential recess of the outlet head 4 during the assembly of the tub outlet 1 before the housing jacket 2 is pushed onto the discharge head 4 (cf. FIG. 1).
- Lamp body 32 and protective tube is negligibly small.
- the temperature of the lamp body 32 is thus essentially independent of whether and at what temperature water is removed.
- the temperature of the lamp body 32 is therefore exclusively dependent on the operating conditions of the UV lamp 12. This can thus be selected in such a way that an optimized sterilization efficiency of the UV lamp 12 is achieved.
