Abstract

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Detektion eines Risses (9) in einem Eisenbahnrad (1) beschrieben, wobei mit Hilfe eines ersten Sende-Ultraschallwandlers (31) eine erste Ultraschallwelle (41) im wesentlichen tangential zum Radumfang durch eine Stirnseite (27) des Eisenbahnrads (1) eingestrahlt wird. Das Einstrahlen erfolgt bezüglich der Stirnseite (27) geneigt. Die eingestrahlte Ultraschallwelle (41) wird an der Stirnseite (27) wieder empfangen. Ein erster Einschallwinkel (α1) und ein erster Empfangswinkel (β1) sind derart gewählt, daß die eingestrahlte Ultraschallwelle (41) empfangbar ist, falls eine Reflexion an der gegenüberliegenden Stirnseite (43) und eine rückwärts gerichtete Ablenkung am Riß (9) erfolgt. Es werden auch Vorrichtungen beschrieben, die besonders zur Durchführung des Verfahrens geeignet sind. Insbesondere weist eine solche Vorrichtung einen seitlich neben oder unter einem mit geringer Geschwindigkeit bewegten Eisenbahnzug (70) angeordneten und in dessen Fahrrichtung (78) verfahrbaren Prüfwagen (74) auf, an dem ein Prüfkopf (29A, 29B) befestigbar ist, der an der bezüglich des Eisenbahnzugs (70) außen bzw. innen gelegenen Stirnseite (27) aufsetzbar ist.
