Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for transmitting the rotation kinetic energy from a first shaft to a second shaft as well as to an electro-mechanical transmission, wherein said method and transmission can be used in the driving systems of vehicles. This method involves transmitting the rotation energy to a second shaft in a mechanical manner through the second mobile member (5) of a differential using the reaction of the armature (4) in an electric machine (21) operating as a power generator, as well as in an electrical manner through an electric machine (23) operating as an electric motor. This transmission includes at least two electric machines (21, 23) connected together and at least one four-member differential having one of said machines (21, 23) arranged on its main axis while the other is arranged arbitrarily. The electric machines (21, 23) are further separated by a current reversing switch (3).
