Definitions

  • the invention relates to a depilatorium with magnesium hydroxide as an alkalinity generator.
  • Human hair especially in the head area, is not only physiologically advantageous, but is also considered to a very large extent as an essential part of an aesthetic appearance. There are therefore a large number of corresponding hair cosmetic products which are used for cleaning, care or aesthetically advantageous changes to the hair.
  • depilators are generally preparations which are strongly alkaline (pH value at approx. 11-13) and continue to contain at least one reducing agent. These depilators are often applied to the hairy skin as cream-like preparations. In the hair swollen by the strongly alkaline environment, sulfur-sulfur bridges are then split in the hair by the reducing agents and the hair structure is thus decisively weakened and broken down. Calcium hydroxide is predominantly used as an alkalinity agent in the agents of the prior art.
  • the invention thus relates to a depilatory containing 1-10% by weight of at least one reducing agent, which is characterized in that it contains 1-25% by weight of Mg (OH) 2 and 0-10% by weight of a further alkalinity generator whose 1% by weight solution in distilled water at 20 ° C has a pH of at least 10, with the proviso that the pH of the depilatory is 10 or greater.
