  • the chip box contains for each container an individual integrated circuit 24 as described above.
  • For each rack that can be placed in the vehicle such a chip box is arranged concealed in an armoured part of the vehicle and anchored to the vehicle.
  • the loading space of the vehicle is secured against forced entry and armoured all round. Loading and unloading of the transport racks with containers takes place via a double access door which can only be opened remotely from a secured area in the distribution centre.
  • the relevant destination is transmitted in coded form to all containers 30 in the vehicle via input means 42 serving for this purpose in the vehicle.
  • the input means comprise a unit 43 for wireless signal transfer which is able to co-act with a corresponding device 14 in each container.
  • Only the container for this destination will respond by means of auditive means provided therein which will then generate a continuous sound signal, as well as by means of visual signals generated via LED 4 and display screen 5 on the front side.
  • the LED will for instance light up green as an indication that the relevant container can be removed from the rack, while the LED of the other containers will not change and continue to flash red.
  • a container which is erroneously removed from the rack immediately starts an alarm procedure, wherein the above stated alarm time of only a few tens of seconds counts down and an intermittent sound signal is emitted. If the container is not re-placed on the same position in the rack before this alarm time has elapsed the contents thereof are irreversibly devalued.
  • the former position of the container is herein deduced by the container itself from the identity of the unique integrated circuit of chip box 41 to which the container was previously connected. If the container is re-placed in the correct position in good time the alarm procedure is automatically cancelled and the danger of unintended destruction of the contents of the container passes.
  • the pavement time set therein of for instance a few minutes.
  • This pavement time is related precisely to the route which must then be covered by a security officer on foot and which, normally speaking, will give him the opportunity to reach a base station at the place of destination in good time.
  • the security officer sees from a LED 5 with a continuous red light on the front side of the container that the pavement time is counting down and must deliver the container to the destination before it has elapsed. Expiry of the pavement time is herein signalled by an intermittent sound signal and red flashing of the LED 5, which the officer will not fail to notice.
  • the security officer can then avert the -17- approaching destruction of the contents of the container by inserting an electronic key in a lock 70 arranged on the outside of the container.
  • the electronic lock 70 is coupled to the clock means, either with or without interposing of the central processing unit 11.
  • the key forms part of the equipment of the vehicle and comprises a bypass chip in which a second delay time is stored which can be added once only to the counting down pavement time. As soon as the key is introduced into the lock of the container this second delay time will be generated to the clock means as addition to the meanwhile counting down pavement time and extends the available pavement time once only.
  • this second delay time amounts at the very most to the initially set pavement time so that the officer, even if it were not possible to reach the final destination within the extension, must in any case be deemed able to return to the secured vehicle and there re-place the container in the transport rack.
  • the clock means of the container stop and the contents of the container are safeguarded. The security officer can therefore avert an unintended destruction of the contents of the container in such cases.
  • the container At the place of destination the container is placed in a non-secured area on a base station of the type shown in figure 2 and therein optionally exchanged for an armed return container.
  • the return container must then be carried back to the vehicle within the same pavement time in order to be placed there in an open position of the transport rack.
  • the base station comprises a repeatedly programmable memory unit which is incorporated in the integrated circuit thereof and which is able, when a container is placed on the platform, to co-act with the integrated circuit of the device in order to determine and store the identity thereof.
  • the memory unit comprises a shift register functioning in accordance with the so-called First-In-First-Out principle, which entails the most recent transactions being stored therein, since when the memory is completely full the oldest transaction is always erased to make room for a new transaction.
  • the thus stored data comprises for instance the status of the container -18-
  • the delivered container will also communicate with the base station to establish and store in its internal log book the identity thereof. Only if this identity corresponds with the delivery address pre-programmed in the container does the pavement time of the container stop, which can be seen from a red flashing of the LED on the front side thereof. If the container is subsequently removed from the base station, the LED will begin to display a continuous red light while an intermittent sound signal will be audible, both an indication that in the container a pre-set internal transfer time is counting down within which the container must be transferred to a similar base station in a secured area of the delivery address or must be re-placed. This has meanwhile become the responsibility of the recipient and no longer of the security officer.
  • the volume and frequency of the sound signal increase as the end of the set transfer time approaches, for instance during the last 30 seconds, in order to draw the attention of an official to the approaching destruction of the contents of the container.
  • the internal transfer time stops as soon as the container is placed in the secured area on the base station present there or is re-placed on the previous base station. All other manipulations with the container result irreversibly in destruction of its contents, so that in the case of unauthorized removal of the container from the non-secured area the contents will lose their value within a short time.
  • the identity of the base station in the secured area is also determined by the container for comparison with a pre-programmed identity. Only when these match will the container allow a disarm command to be given. This takes place via the control button on the front part of the container. A moment in time or a time period is herein optionally entered beforehand which is also stored in the container, whereby the disarm option is limited to after this moment in time or to within this time period. Only after the container determines, once again in fully autonomous manner, that disarming is allowed will a disarming procedure be started. This entails the integrated security system of the container being rendered inoperative, which may or may not be -19- after a pre-programmed delay time has elapsed.
  • the locking means will moreover release the access cover to the compartment of the container. If during the disarming procedure the container is lifted from the base station, disarming will be halted immediately and the internal transfer time re-started, so that here also attempted unauthorized removal of the container is pointless. Once the disarming procedure has been completed fully and without error the LED will change colour from red to green and the message DISARMED or a message to that effect appears on the display screen as an indication that the access cover can be opened and the contents removed. These procedures are otherwise stored in the memory unit of the container so that they can later be verified.
  • the device according to the invention thus provides in interaction with the base stations according to the invention a fully autonomous security against theft and robberies which is so hermetic that an unauthorized appropriation of the contents of the container is virtually precluded. Robbery or theft is thereby discouraged such that not even an attempt thereto will be considered.
  • the invention moreover provides therewith an autonomy and user-friendliness such that the pavement transport can be undertaken without problem by only a single security officer. A second security officer, as required in such cases in conventional security transport, is thereby no longer necessary. The invention thus not only provides a better security but also an economic advantage.
  • the invention generally provides a portable device for security transport which in fully autonomous manner monitors its own integrity and the progress of the transport and thus forms an effective means against the ever-increasing criminality in this field.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un dispositif permettant de mettre en sûreté des objets de valeur, en particulier des valeurs mobilières et des documents, dispositif qui comprend : un conteneur portable (1) muni d'un compartiment pouvant être fermé (2) destiné à recevoir les valeurs. Le dispositif de l'invention comprend un moyen de destruction (7) destiné à détruire les valeurs en cas d'utilisation irrégulière du dispositif. Ce dispositif comprend également des moyens de connexion (8,9) capables d'établir une connexion avec une station de base (20) reliée à ceux-ci, et un moyen d'horloge (18) capable d'agir de façon que lorsque la connexion entre les moyens de connexion (8,9) et la station de base (20) est interrompue, le moyen de destruction (7) est activé après un délai d'attente prédéterminé.
