  • the edge parts of the blanks are worked first by means of pairs of so- called crushing wheels 12. As has been indicated in connection with the upper crushing wheel 12 in Fig. 2, this is connected to an eccentric arrangement 13 which - 6 - can be used to adjust the final thickness of the edge parts of the blanks .
  • the crushing wheels are driven by gear wheels inside the yokes.
  • the left edge of the blank 10 shown in Fig. 3 is then worked by two cutting wheel pairs 14 which cut out a gluing flap 15 in the blank, see Fig. 4.
  • the right edge of the blank in Fig. 3 is trimmed by means of a wheel pair 16 which is preceded by a wheel pair 17 which serves as a so-called trimming crusher and cuts off the strip which is separated by the wheels 16 in short pieces.
  • the upper wheel in the wheel pair 17 is provided with transverse knives 18 while the lower wheel is made with a stay pad.
  • the wheels 16 have interacting trimming knives 20, 21.
  • the upper wheel in each pair is provided with a knife 26 which runs over a length of the periphery of the wheel corresponding to the length of the desired slit in the blank 10.
  • the lower wheel in each slitting-wheel pair is made with a corresponding slot 34 for receiving the knife 26.
  • the blank For the erection of the blank shown in Fig. 4 to form a carton, the blank must also be provided with longitudinal creases 27 between the slits 22 and 23.
  • the slitting unit in Figs 1 and 2 is completed by four pairs of creasing wheels 28.
  • Each of the upper creasing wheels is connected to an eccentric arrangement 29 driven by a drive shaft 30 via a gear wheel 31.
  • the eccentric arrangement 29 is used to adjust the contact pressure of the creasing wheels against the blank passing through.
  • the creasing wheels are driven via gear wheels inside the yokes.
  • the slitting unit described above thus produces a carton blank according to Fig. 4 which is then conveyed to a work station in which the necessary handle openings are punched out in the blank.
  • Fig. 5 shows one of the lower yokes 4 with the associated creasing wheel 28 which is driven by a shaft 8. It can be seen that the yoke 4 is made in the form of a suction box with openings 13 in its upper edge surface. These openings interact with openings in the vacuum belt 6 running over them to secure a blank. In the yoke 4, two lower slitting wheels are also mounted in front of the creasing wheel 28, seen in the direction of feed of the blanks .
  • the lower creasing wheel 28 is provided with a creasing rim 32 which interacts with a stay pad 33 of an upper creasing wheel to produce a longitudinal crease on the underside of a blank which is fed by the vacuum belt 6 between the creasing wheel 28 with the rim 32 and the stay pad 33 of the upper creasing wheel.
  • the crease 27 produced by the rim is to run essentially in line with the slits 22, 23 in the blank, see Fig. 4.
  • the blank it may be desirable to be capable of adjusting the position of the creasing wheel 28 so that the crease 27 produced runs in prolongation of one side or the other of the slits 22 and 23. Furthermore, it may be desirable to adjust the position of the crease in relation to the channels in a corrugated cardboard blank.
  • the lower creasing wheel 28 is in this connection made with a hub portion 42 which projects into a sleeve-shaped hub portion 43 of a gear wheel 44 which is mounted in the yoke 4 by means of roller bearings 45.
  • the gear wheel 44 is driven by an - 8 - additional gear wheel 46 which is in thread engagement with the wheel 44 and is driven by a shaft 47.
  • the shafts 47 and 8 are driven synchronously with one another but in different directions by a common motor 48 which to this end drives a gear wheel 49 which is in tooth engagement with another gear wheel 50 which drives the shaft 8 via a register 52.
  • the register 52 normally has a transmission ratio of 1:1 which means that the creasing wheel 28 and the gear wheel 43 are driven synchronously with one another in the same direction and at exactly the same speed.
  • the hub portion 42 is provided with a thread 53 which is in thread engagement with a corresponding thread on the hub portion 42 of the creasing wheel 28. 54 indicates a plain bearing between the hub portions 42 and 43.
  • a signal is supplied to the register 52.
  • the transmission ratio of the register 52 can be changed for a short period of time so that the speed of rotation of the shaft 8 is increased or decreased in relation to the speed of rotation of the shaft 47.
  • the thread 53 then causes the hub portions to be displaced slightly in relation to one another, the position of the creasing wheel 28 also being changed in relation to the slitting wheels mounted on the yoke.
  • the register 52 returns to working with the transmission ratio of 1:1 and the creasing wheel 28 will produce a crease in the blanks in the new position, see Fig. 6.
  • the upper creasing wheel with the stay pad 41 does not - 9 - usually need to be displaced. If so desired, however, the upper creasing wheel can of course be displaced in a corresponding manner.
  • the speeds of the drive shafts can be varied in a manner other than by using a register.
  • the wheel 44 provided with the hub 43 can be driven directly by a drive shaft or via, for example, a chain or a toothed belt. If necessary, for example for reasons of space, the gear wheel 46 can of course be driven by an additional gear wheel or by means of a chain or a toothed belt.
  • Those parts of the creasing wheel 28 and the extra wheel 44 with interacting teeth can be made in any manner, provided that a speed difference between the wheels brings about the desired displacement of the creasing wheel relative to the slitting wheels. If so desired, the arrangement described above can of course be used to displace the slitting wheels relative to the creasing wheel .

Abstract

L'invention concerne une unité de découpe et de pliage combinée intégrée à une machine permettant de produire des ébauches de boites pliantes, en particulier des ébauches fabriquées dans du carton ondulé. Cette unité comprend des roues de découpe supérieures et inférieures interagissant par deux, ainsi que des roues de pliage supérieures et inférieures (28) interagissant également par deux. Au moins une roue de découpe supérieure et une roue de pliage supérieure sont montées dans une même unité support supérieure, et au moins une roue de découpe inférieure et une roue de pliage inférieure sont montées dans une même unité support inférieure (4). Au moins une desdites roues de pliage (28) de chaque paire est pourvue d'un bord de pliage (32), et peut se déplacer dans le sens latéral par rapport à l'unité support (4), à laquelle cette roue est associée, et aux roues de découpe montées dans cette unité support. La roue de pliage (28) pouvant se déplacer dans le sens latéral présente par ailleurs des filetages (53) en prise avec une roue additionnelle (44), laquelle est montée de manière concentrique à ladite roue de pliage à l'intérieur de l'unité support de cette dernière, de manière à être généralement entraînée en même temps que cette roue de pliage. Des organes (52) permettent en outre de modifier temporairement la vitesse de rotation de l'une de ces deux roues (28, 44) par rapport à l'autre, les filetages (53) en prise de ces roues amenant ladite roue de pliage (28) à se déplacer dans le sens latéral par rapport à l'unité support (4) et aux roues de découpe montées dans celle-ci.
