Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a system as defined in the preamble of claim 1.
  • specification EP 0 803 492 presents a door frame system for an elevator landing door, designed to be installed in a substantially rectangular opening in a wall between an elevator shaft and a land- ing in a building.
  • the opening is delimited vertically by an upper edge and a lower edge and horizontally by two vertical edges substantially parallel to each other.
  • the system comprises two substantially parallel vertical jambs disposed near the verti- cal edges of the opening parallelly with them and a substantially horizontal headpiece extending between the jambs near the upper edge parallelly with it.
  • the system comprises a fire protection profile for attachment to a jamb and/or the headpiece (generally to the frame) .
  • the fire protection profile is a sheet metal profile of a substantially L-shaped cross-section which comprises a first flange, which is designed to be attached with fixing elements to the front side of the frame on the side facing toward the landing, and a sec- ond flange, which extends substantially perpendicularly relative to the first flange in a direction away from the landing and toward the elevator shaft.
  • the second flange can be fitted with a clearance against an edge of the door opening to cover the gap between the frame and the edge.
  • the system comprises a covering profile, which is a sheet metal profile of a substantially trough-like cross-section. The covering profile is intended to be mounted on the side of the fire protection profile facing toward the landing.
  • the cov- ering profile comprises a third flange, whose free edge fits against the front edge of the frame on the side facing toward the landing, and a fourth flange, which is placed between the second flange of the fire protection profile and the edge of the opening.
  • the system further comprises fixing means, such as screws, by means of which the covering profile is fixed with re- spect to the frame and fire protection profile in such manner that the screws are fastened in the frame and they can be tightened so as to press the fourth flange against the edge of the landing door opening.
  • the object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
  • a specific object of the present invention is to disclose a door frame system which can be quickly and easily installed.
  • the door frame system of the invention is characterised by what is presented in claim 1.
  • the fixing means comprise claw fastening elements provided on the fourth flange and designed to lock on the second flange when the fourth flange is placed between the second flange and the edge of the opening.
  • the claw fastening elements comprise tongues formed in the fourth flange, which are bent toward the inner side of the profile from the outer surface of the fourth flange placed against the edge of the opening.
  • the tongue consists of the inner portion of a substantially U-shaped incision made in the fourth flange .
  • the counterpart in the second flange for the claw fastening element is the free edge of the second flange.
  • the counterpart in the second flange for the claw fastening element is a hole, flute or the like, formed in the second flange at a distance from its free edge.
  • Fig. 1 presents a diagrammatic and axonometric view of an embodiment of the door frame system for an elevator landing door according to the present invention
  • Fig. 2 presents a detail illustrating the mounting of the fire protection profile of the invention on the headpiece and jambs of the door frame.
  • Fig. 3 presents a detail after the covering profile has been mounted on the fire protection profiles
  • Fig. 4 presents section IV-IV of the system in Fig. 1,
  • Fig. 5 illustrates the attachment of the covering profile to the fire protection profile according to another embodiment of the invention.
  • Fig. 6 illustrates the attachment of the covering profile to the fire protection profile according to a third embodiment of the invention.
  • Fig. 1 shows an elevator landing door and a door frame system designed to be mounted around an elevator landing door in a substantially rectangular opening 1 in a wall at a landing L in a building, between the elevator shaft S and the landing.
  • the wall of the building and part of the landing are diagrammatically depicted with broken lines.
  • the landing door comprises two sliding door panels 23, 24.
  • the opening 1 between the elevator shaft S and the landing L is delimited vertically by a lower edge 2, i.e. in practice the landing floor, and an upper edge 3, and laterally by two substantially parallel vertical edges 4, 5.
  • the system comprises two substantially parallel vertical jambs 6, 7 disposed in the vicinity of the vertical edges 4, 5 of the opening 1 in a parallel direction with them. Extending between the jambs 6, 7 is a substantially horizontal headpiece 8, placed near the top edge 3 of the opening 1 in a parallel direction with it.
  • the system comprises a fire protection profile '9, which is a sheet metal profile of a substantially L-shaped cross- section, made of a fire-resistant material, such as steel.
  • the fire protection profile 9 comprises a first flange 10, designed to be fastened with fixing elements 11 to the front side 12 of the frame 6, 7, 8 on the side facing toward the landing L.
  • the fixing elements 11 consist of a number of elongated holes 25 in the fire protection profile 9, oriented in the longitudinal direction of the profile, and screws 26.
  • the fire protection profile 9 of L-shaped cross-section comprises a second flange 12, which extends perpendicularly to the first flange 10 so that, when mounted in place, it is oriented in a direction away from the landing L and toward the elevator shaft S .
  • the fire protection profile can be fitted with a clearance against the edges 3, 4, 5 of the opening 1 to cover the gap between the frame 6 , 7 , 8 and the edge 3 , 4 , 5.
  • a fire protection profile arranged in this manner functions in such a way that, in the event of a fire, even if the door and frame should be deformed in consequence of thermal expansion, the gaps between the frame and the respective edges of the opening will remain closed and the attachments will remain fixed because the fire-resist- ant fire protection profiles are free to slide in relation to the frame as the holes 25 for the retaining screws are of an elongated shape and the flanges of the covering profile act as sliding surfaces.
  • the system further comprises a covering profile 14, which is a sheet metal profile of a substantially trough-like cross-section as shown in Fig. 4.
  • the covering profile 14 is mounted on that side of the fire protection profile 9 which faces toward the landing L.
  • the covering profile 14 comprises a third flange 15, whose free edge 16 meets the front side 12 of the frame 6, 7, 8 which faces toward the landing L.
  • the covering profile 14 comprises a fourth flange 17, which is mounted by pushing it between the second flange 13 of the fire protection profile 9 and the edge 3, 4, 5 of the opening 1.
  • Extending between the third flange 15 and the fourth flange 17 is a fifth flange 27, to which the third and fourth flanges are at right angles .
  • the fixing elements used to attach the covering profile 14 to the fire protection profile are claw fastening elements 18 in the fourth flange 17, which are designed to lock on the second flange 13 when the fourth flange 17 is pushed far enough between the second flange 13 and the edge 3, 4, 5 of the opening 1.
  • the claw fastening ele ⁇ ments 18 are tongues 19 formed in the fourth flange 17, which are bent toward the inner side of the profile away from the outer surface of the fourth flange 17 placed against the edge 3 , 4 , 5 of the opening 1.
  • the tongue 19 consists of the inner portion of a substantially U-shaped incision 20 made in the fourth flange 17.
  • the counterpart 21 of the claw fastening element 18 in the second flange 13 is the free edge 22 of the second flange 13.
  • the tongue 19 can bend elastically toward its non-bent position, from which it springs back into its bent position after it has been pushed far enough so that it goes past the free edge 22 of the second flange 13, remaining hooked on the edge 22.
  • the edge of the claw 18 and the counterpart 21 designed to engage it it is possible to utilise the springing action between the flanges of the covering profile so that, when mounted in place, the profile remains under a tension, thus opposing disengagement of the claw fas ⁇ tening element from its counterpart.
  • the counterpart 21 in the second flangel3 for the claw fastening element 18 is a hole formed in the second flange 13 at a distance from its free edge 22.
  • the counterpart 21 in the second flange 13 for the claw fastening element 18 is a flute formed in the second flange 13 at a distance from its free edge 22, laid in the lengthways direction of the profile.
