  • This invention provides a nutritional composition for pregnant and lactating women and food products or dietary supplements comprising said composition.
  • Constipation is common in pregnancy. This is thought to be related to the increase in circulating progesterone and possibly decreased levels of motilin. Dietary fibre has a major effect on colonic function and is a safe means to relieve pregnant women of their constipation.
  • Calcium is among the nutrients the recommended levels of which is increased proportionately more than that of energy and the other nutrients during pregnancy and lactation and taking extra milk or dairy products will normally provide additional calcium. - 2 -

L'invention concerne une composition nutritionnelle pour femmes enceintes et allaitantes, cette composition renfermant: une source protéique non dérivée du lait; une fibre alimentaire et/ou une substance fibreuse; une source d'acides gras polyinsaturés; et des minéraux et des vitamines recommandés aux femmes enceintes et allaitantes. Cette composition est exempte de lactose et renferme moins de 2 %, en poids des composants secs de cette composition, de lait ou de produits dérivés du lait.
