Abstract
The present invention relates to techniques for manufacturing coils with high magnetic flows and can be used in the production of magnetic systems used in high-energy particle physics. This invention provides for a coil having reliable geometrical parameters as well as a good isolation. The coil is tightly pressed into the cavity of a mould during the entire impregnation and polymerisation process. After solidification of the compound, the coil acquires the desired geometrical dimensions. The air is pumped out of the coil volume and replaced by the compound using a pouring channel as well as high-flow openings provided for this end. This method, which uses mould walls with a combined structure, allows for the application of an external heating, for the generation of a predetermined pressure value within the compound and, if need be, for the use of pressure in order to separate the coil from the mould walls on lengths of several meters. This method also enables the use of automated and computerised systems, reduces the human factor component in the precision of the coil geometrical parameters, provides a good isolation thereof and simultaneously increases the yield as a whole.
