Definitions
- the object of the present invention is to provide a stud wall, which is easy to erect with the aid of the accessory components that I have devised in connection herewith, in addition to which the stud may also be used for floor structures of a kind that have to meet strict sound-proof and fire-proof requirements.
- a further object of the invention is to provide an easily erected stud wall, which may also be used in environments where strict sound-proof and fire-proof requirements must be met. It is also easy to dismantle in case of selective demolition.
- a profiled stud of this kind has a wide range of uses, for instance when a profiled section 12 of sheet metal or the like is to be pressed into milled grooves 7 formed in the stud. This arrangement strengthens this stud in all directions. The stud becomes capable of absorbing higher tensile and compressive forces.
- Fig 1 illustrates a stud wall constructed from a stud 1, 2, 3 having grooves 7 milled therein. These grooves 7 may be used for a variety of purposes, such as to mount a stud 3 between the ground and top plates 1 and 2, respectively.
- a mounting member 10, 11 is used, which is applied on the ends of the stud 3 in the milled grooves 7. They form tenons on the stud 3 that fit the grooves 7 formed in the ground plate 1 and the top plate 2.
- the stud 3 may be displaced in the grooves 7 to the desired position and by means of conventional flat-head screws be anchored to the ground and top plates 1 and 2, respectively.
- Fig 2 shows in two cross-sectional views a wall comprising a stud 3, a ground plate 1, and a top plate 2, 2 and illustrates the manner of mounting and fitting the mounting members 10, 11 into the milled grooves 7.
- Fig 3 shows a mounting member 11 three-dimensionally, including a spacer preventing the member from being inserted too far. It likewise shows the holes provided to anchor the stud 3, the top plate 1 and the ground plate 2 to one another.
- Fig 4 shows a mounting member 10 three-dimensionally.
- the mounting of the members 10 is effected at each side diagonally of the stud 3, against the ground plate 1 at the lower end and against the upper plate 2 at the upper end, these being mounted in an identical manner. It is likewise possible to mount two members 10 on the same side of one end of the stud 3.
- Fig 5 shows a joining piece 9, drawn three-dimen- sionally. This joining piece is used to join studs 3 together. Four joining pieces 9 are required for each joint, when the stud 3 is in a free upright position, having no support from any other wall . When the stud 3 is supported from another direction, only two joining members 9 are required.
- Fig 6 is a three-dimensional drawing figure illustrating in cross-section the structure of the wall including sound-absorbing panels 5.
- Sound insulating material 4 is shown intermediate the panels 5. Sound insulating material may be provided also between panels 5, 6 to achieve a higher grade of sound-proofing.
- the grooves formed in the stud 3 may be made good use of. It is important to seal between floor, ceiling and against another wall, by means of a sealing strip 8.
- the strip 8 is inserted inside the grooves 7 that are milled in the stud 1, 2, 3. This embodiment may be used also to construct light-weight floor structures having to meet strict sound-proof requirements.
- Fig 7 shows in a three-dimensional view a reinforced profiled stud 3 and its ends.
- a sheet-metal reinforcement rail 12 or the like In the milled grooves 7 is 3 mounted a sheet-metal reinforcement rail 12 or the like. It is secured in position by means of outwards bent flanges 13 in the side of the profile member, so called “gills" .
- Fig 8 is a three-dimensional sectionalized view, showing the outwards bent gills 13 formed in the sides of the profile member 12. Both ends are also shown.
