Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of medicine and, in particular, to the methods of correction of physiological state of human organism using electrobio stimulation of the central nervous system and it can be directly applied for medical treatment of people suffering from various disorders of the brain regulatory function as well as for preventive treatment of people, whose jobs require increased mental and physical activity of people subjected to extreme conditions e. g. pilots during the flight and air traffic operators when on duty.
- a stimulated sleep consisting in influencing the patient's brain by reproduced natural brain action currents by means of electrodes located in certain parts of the patient's head, e. g. in the areas of forehead and napex, said brain action currents pre- recorded from the same areas of the patient's head during deep medicamental sleep [SU-211752, 1968].
- ⁇ - to- ⁇ - rhytm variation on the encephalogram is characteristic of the tranfer of the brain cortical elements to a calm state which subjectively manifects itself in the relaxation or sleeping state and defines the frequency which is responsible for starting of bioeffect.
- ⁇ - rhytm is characteristic of people with high level plasticity of neurodynamic processes.
- some people are lacking ⁇ - rhytm at alL this decreasing the efficiency of the method, when the electromagnetic radiation is controlled by ⁇ - rhytm of encephalogram.
- Also known in the art is the method of stimulating the mental and physical activity of a human being consisting in influencing the patient's brain by reproduced natural brain action currents by means of electrodes located in the areas of the patient's forehead and napex, said currents pre-recorded from the same areas of the patient's brain under effect of drug while the natural action currents provide amplification from 0,05 - 1,0 A to 15 - 25 mA and carrier frequency modulation of 1600 - 1700 Hz and the stimulating means are used as drug [BY - 1493, 1997].
- natural brain action currents provide amplification from 0,05 - 1,0 mA to 10 - 20 A and career frequency modulation of 1600 - 1700 Hz from minimum to maximum and vice versa [BY- 1492, 1997].
- he closest known in the art reference is the method of the electrobiostimulation of the human CNS consisting in influencing the parts of the brain in the areas of the patient's forehead and napex by reproduced natural brain action currents pre- recorded from the same areas of the human brain while at the same time with operation of brain action currents the reticular formation of the patient's brain is being triggered by electric current 10 - 70 mA and frequency 0,5 - 320 Hz, moreover, it is possible to use brain action currents which have been pre-recorded from the patient under effect of drug [BY-1460, 1997].
- the object of the present invention is the increase of the patient's physiotherapeutic treatment efficiency by means of eliminating of all the noises and artefacts in encephalogram and by the use of the most effective frequency waveband.
- the object of the invention has been achieved by the method of physiotherapeutic correction of the physiological state of human being consisting in influencing the patient's brain parts in the areas of forehead and napex by reproduced natural brain action currents which have been pre-recorded from the same areas of the human's brain and in simultaneous triggering of the patient's brain reticular formation by electric current.
- Alterhatively pre-recorded natural brain action currents in the form of the continuous series of electric pulses may be subjected to frequency analysis and filtration with further selection of separate pulses or groups of pulses which do not contain any noises and/or artefacts thus generating from them another continuous series of pulses which is further used for providing a triggering effect.
- Triggering of the reticular formation by the electric current is performed under continuous and/or step wise variation of the voltage in the range of 2 — 240 V and/or current power in the range of 2 — 70 mA and/or frequency in the range of 0,5 — 1700 Hz, moreover the brain influence can be provided by brain action currents which have been pre-recorded from the patient under effect of drug.
- Brain action currents in the form of the series of electric pulses are recorded with the help of electrodes located in the areas of forehead and napex of the patient or a healthy human subjected, if it is necessary, to the medicamental treatment with the drug being chosen dependent on the diagnosis.
- the pre-recorded series of electric pulses (e 1 ectroencephalogram) is subjected to the frequency analysis and filtration in the range of 0,5 — 40 Hz as this range of frequencies contains the prevailing rhytms. Pulses and/or their parts containing noises and/or artefacts are eliminated from the pulse series and replaced by the ones not containing any as such. Besides, there is a possibility of generating the series from one or more pulses not containing any noises and artefacts by means of their multiple repetition.
- the parts of the patient's head in the forehead and napex areas are overlaid by electrodes. All the operation activities are carried out in the range of 2 — 24 N. Simultaneously with this influence the reticular formation is being triggered with electric current in the range of 2 — 240 V, 2 — 70 mA and frequency of 0,5 — 1700 Hz by means of electrodes located in the eye - napex area under continuous and/or stepwise variation of the voltage and/or current power, and/or current frequency dependent on the diagnosis, the state and the response of the patient to the influence bsiflg provided.
- the duration of the influence during 1 treatment session also depends on the diagnosis, the state and the response of the patient to the influence being provided and usually makes up from 10 to 65 minutes.
- the number of treatment sessions is usually defined dependent on the changes in the objective condition of the patient.
- the total number of treatment sessions can vary from 1 to 7.
- Example 1 Female patient A., 27 years old, with the diagnosis neurastenia during treatment was being influenced by brain action currents pre-recorded from a healthy person in a calm state and from the same female patient during medicamental sleep or immediately after administering a tranguillizer (phenazepam). Electrodes for effecting brain action currents (20 — 30 mA) were overlaid according to extracerebral scheme and triggering of the reticular formation was performed by currents of 20 — 50 mA having the frequency of 50 — 100 Hz with the electrodes being positioned at the eye - napex area. The operation of brain action currents and triggering of the reticular formation were perfomed simultaneously. Noises and artefacts were not cut out from the recording of brain action currents.
- the influence length during the treatment session made up about 40 — 60 min. In total 5 treatment sessions were conducted. As a result irritability has been descreased, sleep normalized and the working ability restored.
- Electrodes for effecting brain action currents (20-30 mA) were overlaid according to extracerebral scheme and triggering of reticular formation was performed by currents of 20 — 50 mA having the frequency of 50 — 100 Hz with the electrodes being positioned at the eye - napex area.
- the operation of brain action currents and triggering of the reticular formation were performed simultaneously. Noises and artefacts were eliminated from the recording and the recordings themselves were corrected.
- the influence length during one treatment session made up about 20 — 45 min. In total 3 treatment sessions were conducted with the result being actually the same as in Example 1.
- Example 3 Female patient C, 55 years old with the diagnosis hypertension of the 1-st grade during treatment was being influenced extracerebrally by brain action currents of 30-40 mA pre-recorded from a healthy person in a calm state with simultaneous triggering of the reticular formation by currents 15-35 mA having the frequency of 90- 360 Hz by means of electrodes positioned at the eye - napex area. The influence length during one treatment session made up about 25-50 minutes. In total 7 treatment sessions were conducted. As a result arteriotony has been normalized, sleep improved, irritability decreased, working ability improved.
- Example 4 Male patient D., 32 years old with the diagnosis neurodermatitis during tieatment was extracerebrally influenced by brain action currents (20-40 mA) pre- recorded from a healthy person in a calm state and by brain action currents of the same male patient recorded in 30-60 minutes after administering a medicamental dose of phenazepam. Simultaneously triggering of the reticular formation was being performed by currents of 20-70 mA having the frequency of 250-550 Hz by means of electrodes located at the eye - napex area. The session length made up 40-60 min. In total 5 treatment sessions were conducted. After the second session itching has been reduced. After 5 sessions sleep has been normalized, nervous tension disappeared, itching ceased.
- Example 6 Male patient K, 36 years old. Diagnosis: neurasthenia (hyperstenic form) with sleep disorders. Complaints about increased irritability, superficial insufficiently refreshing sleep and inability to have a sleep in transport means during inter-flight rest (the patient is a pilot) in extreme conditions. The patient was administrated a single dose of sleeping drug (of a group of barbiturates). In 30-40 minutes his brain action currents were recorded. During treatment the same areas of the patient's brain were being influenced by pre-recorded brain action currents.
