  • the laser fiber will be initially advanced slightly past the distal-most portion of flexible guide tube 510. As shown in FIG. 63, this will cause the heart tissue to "tent". Once the laser energy is activated, the tented portions of tissue will move towards the handpiece, FIG. 64, and receive less energy form the laser than the remaining tissue that is ablated. This can help to close off the channel after the laser fiber is removed and, therefore, reduce loss of blood from the heart chamber through the channel.

Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à des dispositifs et à des procédés d'ablation au laser à avance contrôlée, qui servent à réaliser l'ablation précise de matières corporelles. Un coupleur à fibre optique (10) est couplé optiquement à un générateur d'énergie laser (60) pour transmettre l'énergie laser via la fibre optique. Des mécanismes d'avance contrôlée sont prévus pour coopérer avec la fibre optique, afin de faire avancer celle-ci à une vitesse contrôlée coordonnée à la sortie du générateur d'énergie laser, afin de procéder à l'ablation des tissus corporels ciblés. Divers outils d'orientation des fibres optiques sont également présentés.
