Abstract

A synchronous dubbing method dubs a compact disc in synchronism with the playback of the compact disc in a compact disc-cassette player. In the method, a plurality of pieces of music on a compact disc are playedback and recorded to a first side of a cassette tape in synchronism with the playback of the compact disc. First side of the cassette tape is detected while recording the playedback music onto the first side of cassette tape. It is judged whether a current position of the first side of cassette tape is an end mute area. The playback operation is paused and the record operation is stopped when the current position of first side of cassette tape is the end mute area. The compact disc is returned to a start position of a piece of music playedback at a time of the playback pause operation, and a music part of the cassette tape recorded at a time of the record stop operation is erased. It is judged whether a record side of the cassette tape is changed. The playback operation of the compact disc paused is restarted from the returned position and the plurality of pieces of music of the compact disc are recorded onto the second side of the cassette tape when the record side of compact disc has changed. According to the method, since a plurality of music of a compact disc are recorded onto only recording areas of a cassette tape but not recorded onto mute areas thereof, the pluality of pieces of music can completely be recorded onto the cassette tape without discontinuity.

Description

SYNCHRONOUS DUBBING METHOD AND SYSTEM IN COMPACT DISC-CASSETTE PLAYER
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a dubbing system for audio equipment, and more particularly, to a synchronous dubbing method for dubbing a recorded compact disc (CD) in synchronization with the reproduction of the CD in a CD- cassette player.
BACKGROUND ART Combination apparatus (hereafter referred as CD- cassette players) of a CD player and a cassette tape recorder in a single body has been recently developing. The CD-cassette players are convenient for easy playback of cassette tapes and CDs and may be used for dubbing the CDs to the cassette tapes. A dubbing system in a CD- cassette player is known, in which a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a CD are reproduced one after another by a CD player and recorded on magnetic tapes such as cassette tapes. A synchronous dubbing is an operation which dubs a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a CD reproduced by a CD player onto a cassette tape in synchronization with the reproduction of the CD in a CD- cassette player. A synchronous dubbing is divided into two methods. One method is a method which dubs a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a CD onto a cassette tape, and the other method is a method which dubs a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a cassette tape onto a vacant cassette tape.
U.S. patent No. 4,901,302, (issued to Jiro Yamada on February 13, 1990) discloses an apparatus for reproducing information recorded on a compact disc onto a recording medium having two running directions. U.S. patent No. 5,179,543, (issued to Hideki Nara on January 12, 1993) is disclosed a dubbing apparatus for audio equipment which, even when the total playback time of all pieces of music recorded on the CD is longer than the recordable time of the magnetic tape, can record these music of the CD completely into the magnetic tape within the recordable time . FIG. 1 shows a conventional synchronous dubbing apparatus . When a user presses a synchronous dubbing key on an input section 102, a synchronous dubbing command signal is inputted to the microcomputer 104. The microcomputer 104 receives the synchronous dubbing command signal from the input section 102, and simultaneously transmits a reproducing command signal and a recording command signal to a CD player 106 and a tape deck 108, respectively, in response to the synchronous dubbing command signal. The plurality of pieces of music reproduced by the CD player 106 are recorded through the tape deck 206 onto a magnetic tape (not shown) to thereby execute the synchronous dubbing process.
The conventional synchronous dubbing apparatus has the following problem. When one side of the cassette tape of the tape deck comes to an end during the process of the reproducing and recording, the recording operation is discontinued by the tape deck while the reproducing operation of CD player continues. Thus, the information reproduction by the CD player is made continuously even after the recording function of the tape deck stops. In other words, while reproducing the music which is stored on the CD, the recording operation continues until one side of the cassette tape is completely wound. Thus, since the dubbing operation is performed not only on recording areas of the cassette tape but also on the mute areas thereof which is located at an end of the cassette tape, the music recorded on the CD being reproduced when the cassette tape reaches the mute area is not recorded into the cassette tape. Furthermore, when music on the CD which records on the mute area of the cassette tape is in the middle of a piece of music, the mute area does not record and a piece of music on the CD is recorded in such a manner that the piece of music is divided onto two sides of the cassette tape, gas boiler is generally used for warm air and warm water, due to convenience of use and low exhaust of pollution material.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention, for the purpose of solving the above mentioned problems, to provide a synchronous dubbing method and system capable of preventing a piece of music on a CD from being discontinued when one side of a cassette tape comes to an end during the process of recording a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a CD reproduced by a CD player onto a cassette tape in synchronization with the reproduction of the CD in a CD-cassette player.
In order to attain the object, according to the present invention, there is provided a synchronous dubbing method in a compact disc-cassette player, the method comprising the steps of: a) reproducing a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a compact disc and recording the plurality of reproduced music into a first side of a cassette tape in synchronism with the reproduction of the compact disc in response to an input synchronous dubbing key signal; b) detecting the first side of the cassette tape while recording the plurality of pieces of music reproduced in step a) into the first side of the cassette tape; c) judging whether a current position of the first side of the cassette tape being detected in step b) is an end mute area; d) pausing the reproducing operation and stopping the recording operation of step a) when the current position of the first side of the cassette tape detected in step c) is the end mute area; e) returning the compact disc to a start position of a piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the reproducing pause operation of step d) , and erasing a music part of the cassette tape having been recorded at a time of the recording stop operation of step d) ; f) judging whether a record side of the cassette tape is changed from a first side to a second side; and g) restarting the reproducing operation of the compact disc paused in step d) from the returned position of the compact disc in step e) and recording the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the compact disc reproduced by the reproduction restarting operation into the second side of the cassette tape when the record side of the compact disc has changed from the first side to the second side in step f) . Also, there is provided a synchronous dubbing system, the aid system comprising: a compact disc player for reproducing a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a cassette tape in response to an input synchronous dubbing key signal; a tape deck for sequentially recording the reproduced music from the compact disc player into first and second sides of a cassette tape in synchronism with the reproduction of the compact disc; a detector for detecting one of first and second sides of the cassette tape while recording the plurality of produced music by the compact disc player into one of the first and second sides of the cassette tape; a first controller for pausing the reproducing operation of the compact disc according to a detect result of the detector, returning the compact disc paused by the reproducing pause operation into a start position of a piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the reproducing pause operation, and restarting the reproducing operation of the compact disc from the returned position in response to an input judgement result signal; and a second controller for stopping the recording operation in response to the detect result of the detector, erasing a music part having been recording at a time of the recording stop operation, and recording the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the compact disc reproduced by the reproduction restarting operation into the second side of the cassette tape in response to the input judgement result signal.
According to the present invention, since a plurality of music recorded on a CD are recorded into only recording areas of a cassette tape but not recorded onto mute areas thereof, the plurality of pieces of music can completely be recorded into the cassette tape without discontinuity.
Other objects and further features of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description when read in conjunction with the attached drawings .

FIG. 1 is a block for showing a conventional synchronous dubbing system;
FIG. 2 is a block diagram for showing a configuration of a synchronous dubbing system in a CD-cassette player according to an embodiment of the present invention;
FIG. 3 is a view for showing a structure of a cassette tape shown in FIG. 2;
FIG. 4 is a view for showing a state of detecting the cassette tape by the detector shown in FIG. 1; and
FIGs . 5A and 5B are a flow chart for illustrating a synchronous dubbing method in a CD-cassette player according to an embodiment of the present invention.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION The preferred embodiment of the present invention will hereinafter be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 2 shows a configuration of a synchronous dubbing system 20 in a CD-cassette player according to an embodiment of the present invention. The synchronous dubbing system 20 includes an operation unit 202, a CD player 204, a tape deck 206, a detector 208, a first controller 210, and a second controller 212. The operation unit 202 generates a synchronous dubbing key signal SD by a user's key input. The synchronous dubbing key signal SD is provided to the second controller 212. The CD player 204 reproduces a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a CD 205 under the control of the second controller 212.
The tape deck 206 sequentially records the plurality of pieces of reproduced music from the CD player 204 into first and second sides of a cassette tape 207. FIG. 3 shows a structure of a cassette tape 207 shown in FIG. 2. The cassette tape includes first and second sides. Each of the first and second sides of the cassette tape 207 includes a beginning mute area 301 or a beginning non- signal area which is a first leader located at beginning thereof, a recording area 302 which is a coated portion located in the middle thereof, and an end mute area 303 or an end non-signal area which is a second leader located at end thereof .
The detector 208 firstly detects the first side of the cassette tape 207 while recording the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the CD 205 reproduced by the CD player 204 into the first side of the magnetic tape 207. The detector 208 secondly detects the second side of the cassette tape 207 when the record side of the CD 205 has been changed from the first side to the second side. FIG. 4 is a view for showing a state of detecting the cassette tape 207 by the detector 208 shown in FIG. 1.
The first controller 210 pauses the reproducing operation of the CD 205 according to a first and second detect results of the detector 208 and returns the CD 205 paused by the reproducing pause operation into a start position of a piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the reproducing pause operation. Furthermore, the first controller 210 restarts the reproducing operation of the CD 205 from the returned position in response to an input judgement result signal.
The second controller 212 stops the recording operation according to the first and second detect result of the detector 208. The second controller 212 also rewinds the first side of the cassette tape 207 into a start position a piece of music having been recording at a time of the recording stop operation and erases the rewound part of the first side of the cassette tape 207. Further, the second controller 212 judges whether a record side of the cassette tape 207 is changed from one side of the cassette tape to another side and generates a judgement result signal. The second controller 212 restarts recording of the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the CD 205 reproduced by the reproduction restarting operation into a second side of the cassette tape 207 in response to the judgement result signal.
A detailed description of the operation of the present invention will be given below with reference to the flow chart of FIGs . 5A and 5B . FIG. 5A and 5B illustrates a synchronous dubbing method in a CD-cassette player according to an embodiment of the present invention. After CD 205 and cassette tape 207 are loaded in the CD player 204 and tape deck 206, respectively, a user presses a synchronous dubbing key on a operation unit 202 so that a synchronous dubbing key signal SD is inputted to the second controller 212 (step S101) . Accordingly, the second controller 212 receives the synchronous dubbing key signal SD from the operation unit 202, in response to the received synchronous dubbing key signal SD therefrom generates a synchronous recording request signal RR(step S102) . The synchronous recording request signal RR is provided to first controller 210. First controller 210 sets the CD player 204 to a playback mode in response to the synchronous recording request signal RR from the second controller 212 (step S103).
In step S104, first controller 210 checks whether or not the CD player 204 is ready to output the playedback signal, that is, whether or not a CD 205 is loaded in the correct position in the CD player 204 and suitable to be playedback .
As a result of the check in step S104, when the CD 205 is loaded in the correct position in the CD player 204 suitable to be playedback, first controller 210 outputs a synchronous recording start signal SS to second controller 212 and controls the CD player 204 to start playback operation (step S105) . That is, the plurality pieces of music recorded on the CD 205 which is loaded in the CD player 204 are produced by the CD player 204. When it is judged that the CD 205 is loaded in the correct position in the CD player 204 not suitable to be playedback, step S104 repeats until the CD 205 is loaded in the correct position in the CD player 204 and suitable to be playedback . The second controller 212 receives the synchronous recording start signal SS from the first controller 211 and controls the tape deck 206 to be set to a record mode in response to the synchronous recording start signal SS . As a result, the plurality of pieces of music on CD 205 reproduced by the CD player 204 are recorded through the tape deck 206 into a first side of the magnetic tape 207 in synchronism with the playback of the CD by the CD player 204 in step S105 (step S106) . That is, the dubbing of the playedback signal from the CD player into a cassette tape 207 loaded on the tape deck 206 starts.
In step S107, the detector 208 detects a current position on the first side of the cassette tape 207 while recording the reproduced music recorded on the CD 205 into the first side of the cassette tape 207. In step 108, the second controller 212 judges whether or not the current position of the first side of the cassette tape 207 detected by the detector 208 in step S104 is an end mute area 303, as shown in FIG. 3. As a result of the judgement in step S108, when the current position of the first side of the cassette tape 207 detected by the detector 208 in step S104 is not the end mute area 303, the routine returns to step S105. When it is judged that the current position of the cassette tape 207 is the end mute area, the second controller 212 controls CD player 204 to be paused (step S109) . The second controller 212 also controls the tape deck 206 to be stopped (step S110) . In step Sill, the first controller 210 judges whether or not the CD player 204 is operating. As a result of the judgement in step Sill, when the CD player 204 is operating, the routine returns to step S109. When it is judged that the CD player 204 is not operating, that is, the CD player 204 is in the pause state, the first controller 210 controls CD player 204 to return the CD 205 to a start position of the piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the pause operation of step S109 (step S112) . The second controller 212 controls tape deck 206 to rewind the first side of the cassette tape 207 into a start position of a piece of music which had been recording in the stop operation of step S110 (step S113). The second controller 212 then erases the rewound part of the first side of the cassette tape 207 in step S113 (step S114) .
In step S115, the second controller 212 judges whether or not a record side of the cassette tape 207 is changed from a first side to a second one. As a result of the judgement in step S110, when the record side of the cassette tape 207 has not changed from the fist side to the second one, step 115 repeats until the record side of the cassette tape 207 is changed from the first side to the second one. When it is judged that the record side of the cassette tape 207 has changed from the first side to the second one, the detector 208 detects a current position of the second side of the cassette tape 207 (step S116) . In step S117, the second controller 212 judges whether or not the current position of the second side of the cassette tape 207 detected by the detector 208 in step S116 is a recording area, as shown in FIG. 3. As a result of the judgement in step S117, when the current position of the second side of the cassette tape 207 is not the recording area, the routine returns to step S116. When it is judged that the current position of the second side of the cassette tape 207 is the recording area, the first controller 210 controls the CD player 204 to reproduce the plurality of pieces of music on recorded the CD 205 paused in step S109 from the returned position of the CD 205 in step S112(step S118) . At the same time, the second controller 212 controls the tape deck 206 to record the plurality of pieces of music reproduced by CD player 204 in step S118 to the second side of the cassette tape 207 (step S119) .
As mentioned above, since a plurality of music recorded on a CD are recorded into only recording areas of a cassette tape but not recorded onto mute areas thereof, the plurality of pieces of music can completely be recorded into the cassette tape without discontinuity.
The invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. The present embodiments are therefore to be considered in all respects as illustrative and not restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description and all changes which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are therefore intended to be embraced therein.

Claims

1. A synchronous dubbing method in a compact disc- cassette player, said method comprising the steps of: a) reproducing a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a compact disc and recording the plurality of reproduced music into a first side of a cassette tape in synchronism with the reproduction of the compact disc in response to an input synchronous dubbing key signal; b) detecting the first side of the cassette tape while recording the plurality of pieces of music reproduced in step a) into the first side of the cassette tape; c) judging whether a current position of the first side of the cassette tape being detected in step b) is an end mute area; d) pausing the reproducing operation and stopping the recording operation of step a) when the current position of the first side of the cassette tape detected in step c) is the end mute area; e) returning the compact disc to a start position of a piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the reproducing pause operation of step d) , and erasing a music part of the cassette tape having been recorded at a time of the recording stop operation of step d) ; f) judging whether a record side of the cassette tape is changed from a first side to a second side; and g) restarting the reproducing operation of the compact disc paused in step d) from the returned position of the compact disc in step e) and recording the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the compact disc reproduced by the reproduction restarting operation into the second side of the cassette tape when the record side of the compact disc has changed from the first side to the second side in step f ) .
2. The synchronous dubbing method as defined in claim 1, wherein step a) includes a-1) generating a synchronous dubbing key signal a-2) generating a synchronous recording request signal in response to the synchronous dubbing key signal generated in step a-1) ; a-3) setting a compact disc player of the compact disc-cassette player to a playback mode in response to the synchronous recording request signal generated in step a- 2); a-4) checking whether the compact disc is loaded in a correct position in the compact disc player and suitable to be reproduced; a-5) outputting a synchronous recording start signal and starting a playback operation of the compact disc when the compact disc is loaded in the correct position in the compact disc player and suitable to be reproduced in step a-4 ) ; and a-6) setting a tape deck of the compact disc-cassette player to a record mode in response to the synchronous recording start signal outputted in step a-5) and recording the plurality of pieces of music on compact disc reproduced in step a-5) into the first side of the cassette tape.
3. The synchronous dubbing method as defined in claim 1, wherein when the current position of the first side of the cassette tape is not the end mute area in step c) executing step a) .
4. The synchronous dubbing method as defined in claim 1, wherein step e) includes e-1) rewinding the first side of the cassette tape into a start position of a piece of music having been recording at a time of the recording stop operation of step d) ; and e-2) erasing the part of the first side of the cassette tape rewound in step e-1) .
5. The synchronous dubbing method as defined in claim 1, further comprising f-a) detecting the second side of the cassette tape when the record side of the cassette tape has changed from the first side to the second side in step f) ; f-b) judging whether a current position of the second side of the cassette tape detected in step f-a) is a recording area; and f-c) executing step g) or step f-1) according to a result of the judgement of step f-b) .
6. A synchronous dubbing method in a compact disccassette player, said method comprising the steps of: i) reproducing a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a compact disc and recording the plurality of reproduced music into a first side of a cassette tape in synchronism with the reproduction of the compact disc in response to an input synchronous dubbing key signal; ii) detecting the first side of the cassette tape while recording the plurality of pieces of music reproduced in step i) into the first side of the cassette tape; iii) judging whether a current position of the first side of the cassette tape being detected in step ii) is an end mute area; iv) pausing the reproducing operation and stopping the recording operation of step i) when the current position of the first side of the cassette tape detected in step iii) is the end mute area; v) returning the compact disc to a start position of a piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the reproducing pause operation of step iv) ; vi) rewinding the first side of the cassette tape into a start position of a piece of music having been recording at a time of the recording stop operation of step iv) and erasing the rewound part of the first side of the cassette tape; vii) judging whether a record side of the cassette tape is changed from a first side to a second side; and viii) detecting the second side of the cassette tape when the record side of the cassette tape has changed from the first side to the second side in step vii) ; ix) judging whether a current position of the second side of the cassette tape detected in step viii) is a recording area; x) restarting the reproducing operation of the compact disc paused in step iv) from the returned position of the compact disc in step v) and recording the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the compact disc reproduced by the reproduction restarting operation into the second side of the cassette tape when the current position of the second side of the cassette tape detected in step viii) is the end mute area.
7. The synchronous dubbing method as defined in claim 6, wherein step i) includes i-1) generating a synchronous dubbing key signal i-2) generating a synchronous recording request signal in response to the synchronous dubbing key signal generated in step i-1) ; i-3) setting a compact disc player of the compact disc-cassette player to a playback mode in response to the synchronous recording request signal generated in step i- 2); i-4) checking whether the compact disc is loaded in a correct position in the compact disc player and suitable to be reproduced; i-5) outputting a synchronous recording start signal and starting a playback operation of the compact disc when the compact disc is loaded in the correct position in the compact disc player and suitable to be reproduced in step i-4) ; and i-6) setting a tape deck of the compact disc-cassette player to a record mode in response to the synchronous recording start signal outputted in step i-5) and recording the plurality of pieces of music on compact disc reproduced in step i-5) into the first side of the cassette tape.
8. A synchronous dubbing system in a compact disccassette player, said system comprising: a compact disc player for reproducing a plurality of pieces of music recorded on a cassette tape in response to an input synchronous dubbing key signal; a tape deck for sequentially recording the reproduced music from the compact disc player into first and second sides of a cassette tape in synchronism with the reproduction of the compact disc; a detector for detecting one of first and second sides of the cassette tape while recording the plurality of produced music by the compact disc player into one of the first and second sides of the cassette tape; a first controller for pausing the reproducing operation of the compact disc according to a detect result of the detector, returning the compact disc paused by the reproducing pause operation into a start position of a piece of music having been reproduced at a time of the reproducing pause operation, and restarting the reproducing operation of the compact disc from the returned position in response to an input judgement result signal; and a second controller for stopping the recording operation in response to the detect result of the detector, erasing a music part having been recording at a time of the recording stop operation, and recording the plurality of pieces of music recorded on the compact disc reproduced by the reproduction restarting operation into the second side of the cassette tape in response to the input judgement result signal.
9. The synchronous dubbing system as defined in claim 8, wherein the detector detects the second side of the cassette tape when the record side of the compact disc has been changed from the first side to the second side, and the the second controller judges whether a current position of the second side of the cassette tape detected by the detector is a front mute area, and the first and second controller control the reproducing and recording operations, respectively according the result of the second controller.
10. The synchronous dubbing system as defined in claim 8, wherein the second controller rewinds the first side of the cassette tape onto a start position of a piece of music having being recording at the time of the recording stop operation and erases the rewound part of the first side of the cassette tape.
11. The synchronous dubbing system as defined in claim 8, wherein the second controller judges whether a record side of the cassette tape is changed from one side to another one and generating the input judgement result signal .
12. The synchronous dubbing system as defined in claim 8, further comprising an operation unit for generating the input synchronous dubbing key signal .
