Abstract

The object of the present invention is an equipment for training of ball sports and the like, i.e. soccer, handball and ice-hockey, by clearly recording, indicating and reading precision at aiming and power of individual shots. The device also makes it possible to collect and summarise the results of training for evaluation and judgment. The device of the invention comprises a bladder or cushion of flexible material, preferably rubber or plastic. The bladder is closed and contains air (or other gas) of a defined pressure. The device also comprises an indicating and/or recording means which is connected to the bladder. Instead of a bladder also other means may be used as a hit board, for example a plate of iron, stainless steel, aluminium or reinforced polymer, which is placed at a stand similar to that used with the bladder.

Description

Sports training device
The present invention is for a device for training of sports and games, especially sports where a ball or like like is to be "shot" into a delimited goal
Important qualities in making goals are precision, i e the safety of direction and the power in the shooting and thus the speed of the ball or the corresponding thing
Training of this kind of sports generally takes place under conditions which as far as possible aim at being similar to those which prevail during matches and competitions This means that goal shooting is trained at goals of the kind which are used during matches and that a goalkeeper in the usual way tries to hinder the shooting of goals Also goal shooting at unkept goals is trained to some extent in order to tram the precision of the shooting
It is also known to make use of various kinds of assisting means in the training Goal shooting may, for example, be done at delimited surfaces and the accuracy of aiming may be recorded using various assisting mans, which by means of mechanical or electronic devices indicate the result
The object of the present invention is an equipment for training of ball sports and the like, i e soccer.handball and ice-hockey, by clearly recording, indicating and reading precision at aiming and power of individual shots The device also makes it possible to collect and summarise the results of training for evaluation and judgment
The device of the invention comprises a hit surface, which is a plate of steel or plastic or a bladder or cushion of flexible material, preferably rubber or plastic The bladder is closed and contains air (or other gas) of a defined pressue The device also comprises an indicating and/or recording means which is connected to the bladder During training the bladder is placed in a desired position, preferably in the opening of a goal of the kind which is used at matches of the sport in question Preferably the bladder is placed fixed at a certain position but it may also be mounted on to a movable means The size and shape of the bladder is adapted to the sport in question
The pressure indication may be by means of a conventional pressure meter having a pointer screen Other possibilities are numerical screen (display) or light emitting diodes so arranged that the higher the pressure achieved in the bladder, the more light emitting diodes go on The pressure may also be recorded and the information collected in a computer or other collecting means for subsequent processing and analysis
Instead of a bladder also other means may be used as a hit board, for example a plate of iron, stainless steel, aluminium or reinforced polymer, which is placed at a stand similar to that used with the bladder The plate is provided with a hit surface, for example a circle painted white and a frame painted white At the plate, behind the painted circle, strain gauges, power indicator of the kind used for scales or other kinds of gauges, are fixedly mounted to the plate to be affected by the movements which are caused by that a ball hits the plate The movements are converted into signals which are sent on to the recording means and then may be read using a computer, display, light emitting diodes or lamps
The invention will below be described more in detail with reference to the embodiment thereof which is shown in the enclosed drawings
Figure 1 schematically shows a device according to the invention together with its measuring and recording means
Figure 2 shows the device of the invention in a front view, i e as the person who is training sees it
Figure 3 is a side view of the device of figure 2
Figures 4 and 5 shows the device of the invention having a hit plate
Figures 6-8 show various positions of the plate of figures 4 and 5
Figure 9 shows an additional means
The device shown in figure 1 comprises a bladder 1 preferably made from rubber In the bladder there is a preset pressure which in most cases is below 0 1 bar The bladder has a valve for regulation of the the pressure through which air (or other gas) may be blown in or let out At the device shown in figure 1 the bladder is connected to both a conventional pressure gauge 2 and by a separate conduit to a pressure gauge 3 which in its turn is connected to a computer 4 or other means for recording of the pressure reading An index plate 5 having indicating by means of light emitting diodes, display or in any other suitable way is connected to the pressure gauge, either directly or via the computer as shown in the figure
The bladder 1 is mounted to a plate 6 which in its turn is movably arranged at a stand with to vertical legs 7, 8 Using means which are not shown in the figures the stand may also be honsontally movable The stand is mounted to the frame 9 of the goal which is used for the training
The design of the bladder may vary and a preferred outer shape is shown in figures 2 and 3 The bladder then has the shape of a cylinder having a larger diameter than height and mainly flat surfaces This means that at a hit on the front side of the bladder there is the same increase of pressure independent of where at the surface the cetre of hit is and the increase of pressure which is obtained will mainly depend only upon the power and force of the shot and the hit
The device shown in figure 4 comprises a plate 10 having a painted white circle 11 , behind which there are positioned strain gauges or other kinds of gauges which are connected to electronic units of the same kind as decnbed above A hit on the plate works in the same way as a hit on the bladder and gives the same possibilities to read the result using computer, display, light emitting diodes or lamps
Figure 5 is a side view of the plate of figure 4 All sides are made in the same way and the plate may easily be mounted in the different positions which are shown in figures 6- 8
Figure 9 shows an additional embodiment of the means for collecting data to the electronic system On the stand there are positioned photocells and/or laser units which supply data to the electronic circuits In this way one can record where in goal that the ball has passed, this may directly and without manual assistance be recorded by a computer The electronics informs the computer that the ball has hit the goal but not the bladder or plate
At training with the device of the invention the person who is training has to aim at a certain, predefined point or a limited, small area within the goal This means that the actions which are required are learnt as reflexes which control the acting during match and competition This makes it possible to deliver the shot within a shorter time than if the player at a possibility to shoot has to react after thinking instead of by reflex The results of an individual player or several who are training together at the same time is collected and processed The so treated results may be used for the planning of further training occasions and to put the players at suitable positions in the team when this is picked out in consideration of their shooting capabilities The recorded values show both the ability to hit the goal and the power thereof
Within the frame of the inventive idea the embodiment may be varied for example as to the outer shape of the bladder or plate The bladder may for example have angled side surfaces so that a hit in the centre causes a greater pressure increase than a peripheral hit of the same power The invention may also be used for other purposes which have some connection to those mentioned above For example at breaks in the matches the onlookers or some of them may be given a possiblity to test their ability to shoot goals and shows with elite an youth players may be arranged This may bring a more numerous audience to the matches
