Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte, selon un premier aspect, à un procédé permettant de passer d'un premier train binaire à un second train binaire, dans un système comportant un décodeur doté d'un tampon à travers lequel le train binaire est transmis. Ledit procédé consiste à arrêter le décodeur dans son processus de décodage, de manière préétablie et en un point préétabli du train binaire, de sorte que le tampon se trouve sensiblement vidé; et à relancer le décodeur, de manière commandée, en un point préétabli du second train binaire, ce qui permet de passer du premier train binaire au second train binaire. Cette invention permet d'insérer des émissions supplémentaires ou des annonces publicitaires ou analogues dans un train de données comprimées suivant la norme MPEG sans rencontrer aucun des problèmes associés à l'utilisation des astuces fournies dans MPEG-2. Un des avantages du procédé proposé réside dans sa simplicité. En termes de norme MPEG-2, l'intervention n'est pratiquement nécessaire qu'au niveau de la couche transport. Les en-têtes de paquets de transport dans MPEG-2 indiquent le début des paquets des trains élémentaires (paquets PES). Cet indicateur sert au contrôle de tous les événements du processus de commutation. Cette invention se rapporte également à l'insertion simple d'informations supplémentaires dans d'autres types de trains binaires.
