Abstract

Procédés et systèmes pour produire des radionucléides par collision d'un faisceau électronique focalisé et d'une matière-cible pouvant être radioactivée par le faisceau électronique. La matière-cible est déplacée par rapport au faisceau électronique le long d'au moins deux axes. Selon l'invention, il est prévu une cartouche-cible qui comprend une enveloppe tubulaire constituée d'un matériau activé de façon minime (si tant est qu'il soit activé) par le faisceau électronique (aluminium par ex.). L'enveloppe tubulaire définit un espace creux interne qui abrite la matière-cible à irradier, par ex. un extenseur intraluminal. Des capuchons d'extrémité ferment chaque extrémité de l'enveloppe tubulaire et se présentent de préférence sous la forme de structures solides d'une seule pièce réalisées dans le même matériau que l'enveloppe tubulaire. Ces capuchons d'extrémités servent, de façon idéale, à permettre à la cartouche-cible d'être accouplée mécaniquement à un ensemble de déplacement et créent un parcours de transfert de chaleur pour un fluide caloporteur en contact avec eux. L'ensemble de déplacement maintient, de façon idéale, la cartouche-cible longitudinalement, de sorte qu'elle soit positionnée pratiquement transversalement par rapport au trajet du faisceau électronique. Au moyen de tiges d'ajustement appropriées et d'ensembles de rails linéaires, la totalité de la cartouche-cible peut être déplacée linéairement, de façon simultanée ou par séquences périodiques, parallèlement et perpendiculairement au trajet du faisceau électronique. Dans le même temps, la cartouche-cible peut être mise en rotation autour de son axe. La cartouche-cible expose ainsi de façon uniforme la matière-cible, placée à l'intérieur, au faisceau électronique.
