Definitions
- the invention relates to a device which is arranged in a rail vehicle and by means of which a lubricant can be applied to the surface of a rail wheel rim and / or at least one rail of a track body, the device being operable as a function of the control signal of a control device.
- Devices of the type mentioned above serve to reduce wear between the wheel and rail. This wear occurs in the area of curves, in which the inner rail and the outer wheel flange in particular have to absorb considerable forces.
- By lubricating the relevant rails or the rail rims of the rail wheels in the area of the contact surfaces the coefficient of friction between the rail and the rail wheel and the associated wear in this area are reduced. It has been found in practice that with the selection of a suitable lubricant and a suitable manner of applying the lubricant, such a reduction in friction can take place without the risk of an excessive reduction in the transmission of force between the drive wheels of the rail vehicle and the tracks.
- a device of the type mentioned is known from German Offenlegungsschrift 26 17 993.
- identification elements are arranged in the known device in the area of the sections of the track body that are at risk of wear and can be queried by means of a signal emitted by the control device.
- the identification of the respective route section or the communication between the control device of the known device and the identification element can take place, for example, by means of ultrasound waves or by means of an inductive or optical system.
- the known device makes it possible to significantly reduce the amount of lubrication required by early and unambiguous identification of the section of the route to be lubricated, and in this way to meet the increasingly stringent environmental protection requirements. Nevertheless, the practical use of the known device shows that the information supplied by the respective identification elements can often not be determined with the required uniqueness. In addition, it has been found that the elements used in the known device for communication, in terms of their transmission and reaction speed, are not able to cope with the ever increasing speeds in rail traffic.
- the object of the invention is to further increase the amount of lubricant required for wear reduction in a device of the type mentioned at the outset to reduce and enable a fast-reacting, precise and safe automatic control of the lubricant use.
- control device comprises a signal receiver for receiving data via which the respective position of the rail vehicle can be determined, and an evaluation device which compares the respective position of the rail vehicle with positions stored in a storage device and which, if the emits a signal for triggering or stopping the lubrication process in the respective position of the rail vehicle with one of the stored positions.
- data for controlling the lubrication process which are suitable for determining the respective location of the rail vehicle.
- data can be, for example, signals from appropriately arranged transmission devices, from whose radio signal the coordinates of the respective position of the rail vehicle can be determined.
- the data in question can be digitally transmitted location information that is suitable for determining the current location of the rail vehicle.
- the signals of the so-called “Global Positioning System”, abbreviated to "GPS”, a satellite navigation system can also be used to determine the respective position of the rail vehicle. GPS has been used successfully in ship and aircraft navigation for a long time.
- the position data determined from the suitable signals are combined with the signal receiver connected evaluation device with data stored in a memory.
- This data can be, for example, the position information that represents the beginning or the end of a curve. If the comparison from the received position data with the stored position data reveals that the rail vehicle is approaching a certain curve, this leads to the triggering of the lubrication process by the control device. As soon as the evaluation device then determines from the comparison of the current position data with the stored data that the end of the curve in question has been reached, the lubrication process is also ended in good time. It is thus possible to carry out the lubricant discharge exactly within the rail section that is at risk of wear. Taking into account the performance of electronic data processing that can be achieved today, it is also possible to control the lubrication device with exact timing and with high reliability.
- additional information can be associated with the stored position data.
- the additional information shows, for example, what type (right / left curve) the section of the route following a particular position is and what slope follows. In this way, for example, the different wear behavior on left or right-hand bends and the influence of the respective slope on the lubrication process can be taken into account.
- the device according to the invention can be implemented inexpensively if the control device with a device for tracking present in the respective rail vehicle the location of the rail vehicle is coupled.
- the modern requirements of logistics make it increasingly necessary to be able to determine the current location of each individual locomotive and each trailer at short notice. For this reason, locomotives and trailers are increasingly being equipped with devices that enable location determination, for example, by means of satellite navigation.
- the device according to the invention can be implemented with little technical effort by utilizing the data obtained when determining the location of the respective rail vehicle.
- Figure 1 shows a route of a track body in a schematic plan view
- Figure 2 shows a device for wheel flange lubrication in a schematic view.
- the rail vehicle 1 shown in FIG. 1 for example a locomotive of a freight train, is equipped with the device 2 shown in FIG. 2 for lubricating the wheel flanges 3 of its rail wheels 4, 5.
- the device 2 comprises a pneumatically actuated lubricant distribution device 6, the details of which are known per se and which is therefore not explained in more detail here.
- the device 2 is equipped with a control device 7.
- the control device 7 comprises a receiving device 9 connected to an antenna 8, to which an evaluation device 10 connected.
- the evaluation device 10 is also connected to a read-only memory 11, for example a CD-ROM.
- the lubricant distribution device 6 is connected to the evaluation device 10 via control lines 12, 13.
- the receiving device 9 receives signals S which are emitted by one or more satellites 14. From the satellite signals S, the receiving device 9 determines the coordinates x, y of the current position of the rail vehicle 1 equipped with the device 2. The evaluation device 10 compares these position coordinates x, y with position data A ⁇ , A y stored in the fixed memory 11. If the evaluation device 10 determines during this comparison that the current coordinates x, y coincides with one of the stored coordinate pairs, the evaluation device 10 additionally reads the information LR from the fixed memory 11, which provides information about the course of the current position x, y following section of the route. The evaluation device 10 then sends a corresponding control signal via the control lines 12, 13 to the lubricant distribution device 6. The lubricant distribution device 6 is then used to break out the required amount of lubricant onto the wheel flanges 3 of the rail wheels 5.
- the lubrication process is continued until the evaluation device 10 again determines a correspondence between the coordinates x, y of the current position of the rail vehicle 1 with another coordinate pair x , A y stored in the permanent memory. That match is the signal that the end of the section of the route that is at risk of wear has been reached.
