Description

The present invention relates to a sealing element intended in particular to be mounted around the door openings of motor vehicles and intended to establish contact with a sliding or fixed window.
Such elements are intended for motor vehicles, and more generally any machine provided with sliding or fixed windows, the sealing of which is ensured by horizontal and vertical slides comprising lips coming to be applied on the opposite faces of the windows, while allowing if necessary displacement in two opposite directions, generally along a vertical axis and limiting vibrations.
The supporting structure, generally the door or the body of the vehicle, has an opening surrounded by a housing for receiving a seal made of rubber, plastic or an equivalent elastic material. This seal usually has a substantially U-shaped section channel in which the window is positioned and a clean back part to be housed in the housing provided for this purpose in the door or the body of the vehicle. Joints are generally manufactured by extrusion, a technique which allows elements with complex sections to be produced. However, this technique only allows the production of longitudinal elements. Therefore, the sealing elements are composed of rectilinear parts connected by molded junction elements. These junction elements have drawbacks on the aesthetic level, because they form a visible discontinuity, as well as on the sealing level, since they create a break in the treatments for improving the slip, by flocking for example. Sealing elements according to the state of the art are for example described in French patent FR2696379 disclosing a seal for movable windows formed by two profiles respectively front and rear joined by a central trim. This seal is assembled before incorporation on the vehicle. The connection zones constitute weakening points. The seal may break due to installation on the vehicle. There have also been proposed constant section seals allowing manufacture by extrusion, the flexibility of which is sufficient to allow installation in the form of a sealing bead which surrounds the upper part of the opening. Such a seal, however, requires additional parts such as wipers for the lower edges of the opening. The assembly of such seals is therefore relatively complex and has the aforementioned drawbacks.
The object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks of sealing elements according to the state of the art by proposing a solid sealing element, of low manufacturing cost and avoiding any discontinuity both aesthetic and mechanical.
To this end, the invention relates to a sealing element comprising a rubber, plastic or equivalent elastic material seal, having a substantially U-shaped section channel in which the sliding window is positioned and a clean back part. to be housed in the housing provided for this purpose in the vehicle door, characterized in that it is composed of two molded frames joined on at least two sides by a molded joint to form a single assembly for sealing the surface The molded frames extend over at least part of the periphery of the opening and can optionally be produced in the form of several adjacent rigid sections which are connected by the overmolded joint to form a temporarily deformable assembly for placement in the housing intended to receive it.
Les éléments d'étanchéité selonThe molded frames are preferably made of a recyclable material, preferably a plastic material, in particular a thermoplastic material with high thermal resistance and are joined by a molded joint in a material of less hardness than that of the material constituting said frames. This embodiment is particularly advantageous compared to the problems of recycling materials. Thermoplastics are much more easily recyclable than rubber or EPDM. Sealing elements according to
According to a preferred embodiment, the two frames have an "L" section. This embodiment allows easy manufacture by molding. Alternatively, the two frames further comprise a transverse upright having a "T" section.
According to another advantageous variant, the frames have lateral protrusions for clipping into the housing provided on the door to receive the sealing elements.
According to another advantageous variant, the frames are cut in one place by an incision.
This incision authorizes a temporary deformation of the frame at the time of the force integration into the vehicle door.
The bottom of the channel has, when the sealing element is positioned in the housing of the door, a fold of cross section projecting inside the U-shaped channel so that the edge of the sliding window comes to rest on the crest of said pleat.
According to a variant, the transverse uprights are connected by a joint defining on each side a "U" channel.

Figure 1 shows a schematic view of the vehicle door. The door (51) has a cutout (52) delimited by a housing (53) intended to receive the sealing element. The sealing element is composed of two frames (54, 55) whose shape and size correspond to those of the housing (53). These frames (54, 55) are made by molding a thermoplastic material. They have a notch (56) which makes it possible to temporarily deform the sealing element, for positioning in its housing.
Ce plissement2 shows a view of the sealing element according to the invention according to one of the cross sections A-A ', BB' or CC. The frame section (54, 55) has the general shape of an "L". These two frames (54, 55) are joined by a rubber seal formed by overmolding and which defines a central channel (1) having a "U" section, delimited by a bottom (2) and by two side walls (3, 4). The side walls (3, 4) are surmounted by lips (5, 6) which can rest on the internal and external surfaces of the sliding glass. The seal also has lateral extensions (7, 8) substantially parallel to the side walls (3, 4) and defining between the latter a rib (9, 10) parallel to the channel (1), in which the sides of the door housing intended to receive the seal. The median planes (11, 12) form with the plane of symmetry (12) of the joint an angle of the order of 75 degrees, the two planes (11, 12) converge towards the center of the channel (1). The internal surfaces of the U-shaped channel can be treated in a known manner by flocking, by a coating or by any other process facilitating the sliding of the glass. Before the seal is positioned in its housing, the bottom (2) is flat in the embodiment described. The width of the joint is greater than the width of the housing intended to receive it. Therefore, when the seal is positioned in its housing, it is deformed laterally as indicated by the arrows FI and F2, and the bottom (2) is deformed as shown in fine hatching in Figure 1, the center of the channel (2 ) deforming towards the inside of the U-shaped channel as indicated by arrow F3. The bottom then has a crease (14). This puckering
The crest (15) will come to rest on the edge of the glass (16) as shown in FIG. 2. The door has a housing delimited laterally by two sides (17, 18) on which the grooves (9, 10 are positioned) ). The width of this housing is less than the width of the joint at rest, which causes the transverse crushing and produces the deformation of the bottom (2) in the form of a pleat in "Ω" whose crest (15) comes to bear against the edge of the window (16).
Ce bord écrase légèrement la plissure (14) qui vient assurer l'étanchéité et le positionnement latéral de la glace (16) .This edge slightly crushes the pleat (14) which ensures the sealing and the lateral positioning of the glass (16).
Les bords latéraux inférieurs (50, 51) des piècesThe two frames (54, 55) are separated during overmolding, so that the lower legs (27, 28) are connected by a membrane (25) produced by overmolding, and preferably having a slightly curved appearance at rest. The lower lateral edges (50, 51) of the parts
(54, 55) sont de forme complémentaire de manière à ce que les deux pièces puissent se raccorder et former une embase monobloc lorsque l'élément d'étanchéité est en place.(54, 55) are of complementary shape so that the two parts can be connected and form a one-piece base when the sealing element is in place.
Figure 3 shows a sectional view of the sealing element when it is placed in its housing. When the sealing element is placed in the housing of the door provided for this purpose, the two parts (54, 55) in "L" are brought together, which causes a deformation of the membrane (25) as shown in figure 3. The membrane (25) forming the bottom of the channel (1) in "U" then has a fold whose cross section is in the shape of "Ω". The two frames (54, 55) also have protuberances (22, 23) for clipping into cavities provided for this purpose in the housing of the door intended to receive the sealing element.
Of course, such clipping protuberances can also be provided directly on the exterior surfaces of the side walls of the "U" channel or on the side extensions.
The frames have a first opening (60) to receive a sliding window and a second opening (61) to receive a fixed quarter window. The frames have a peripheral part (64) cut by a slot (63) allowing a deformation at the time of its positioning in the housing intended to receive it. The frames also comprise a transverse upright (65) separating the movable glazed part (60) from the fixed glazed part (61). The peripheral part of the frame has an "L" section as previously described for the sealing elements intended to receive only movable glass. The transverse uprights (64) of the frames have a "T" section and are molded on one side by a seal allowing the sliding of a movable glass, and on the other side by a seal for holding a glass. fixed quarter panel.
Figures 7 and 8 show cross-sectional views along the cutting plane E-E 'respectively before and after installation in the housing intended to receive the seal.
The sealing element has at the transverse upright (64) the two parts of the molded plastic frame (30, 31) having a "T" section, overmolded on one side with a seal conforming to those previously described , and on the other side by a joint for a fixed window. This seal is for example formed by two lips (32, 33) and side walls (34, 35) defining a central channel (36). The bottom has two half-beads (37, 38) projecting towards the inside of the channel (36). When the two lateral parts are brought together, these half-beads (37, 38) come together to form a support zone for the edge of the fixed lens. The transverse bar of the "T" parts (30, 31) serves as separation posts for the sliding glass and the fixed glass. Of course, this type of sealing element could also be used for the connection of two sliding windows.
The invention is described in the foregoing by way of nonlimiting example. Those skilled in the art will be able to produce different variants without departing from the scope of the invention.
