Description

SINGLE JACQUARD CIRCULAR KNITTING MACHINE
FOR INTARSIA KNITTING
Technical Field The present invention relates to a single jacquard circular knitting machine for an intarsia knitting and, more particularly, in the circular knitting machine's structure, to the single jacquard circular knitting machine for the intarsia knitting, capable of knitting a rib when a single jacquard sweater is knitted.
Background Art
Generally, in the sweater knitting a horizontal knitting machine has been used. This is why in completing the rib such as a sleeve edge or a lower end part of a body of sweaters, differently from a general knitting structure a rib knitting structure of a wrinkled type for a good elasticity should be selected and two body structures of a front and rear should be selected in order to knit the rib knitting structure. In the horizontal knitting machine but, a productivity is very low, so only 30-40 pieces in a day can be produced and only about 16 colors at maximum is available due to a limitation of a supply structure in each color knitting yarn, and in general about 4-5 colors is only available. In order to solve such problem, it can be considered to use a circular knitting machine capable of knitting by a consecutive spin of high speed of the cylinder or a cam, but with general circular knitting machine the rib knitting is impossible. This is why in the single jacquard circular knitting, a body type of double structure can't be selected since various colors of knitting yarn is exposed and projected into the inside of the cylinder of a cylindrical type.
It is also can be considered to use a double cylinder knitting machine capable of doing two bodies role of the horizontal knitting machine by equipping two cylinders in the upper and lower parts. But, since the knitting yarn can't intersect and be supplied inside and outside the cylinder as such double cylinder knitting machine being selected in knitting a plane knitting tissue, it can't be used, either.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view showing a longitudinal section structure of a conventional single cylinder circular knitting machine. As showing in Fig. 1, in the conventional single cylinder circular knitting machine, on an upper circumference face of a cylinder 10 each color of knitting yarn 2 is supplied through a knitting yarn guide outlet 4 from a given position, and according to a control signal of a memory storing a given color and pattern design in its inside a specific of color yarn is selected, and the cylinder 10 turns, simultaneously needle goes up and down by a specific cam structure of an outer circumference face of a cylinder lower part, and thereby a knitting is performed. Such conventional circular knitting machine has big merits for increasing color kinds and for increasing largely a producing amount in the single jacquard circular knitting, but it can't be applied to a sweater knitting since a structure of a sleeve band or a rib of a body lower part of sweaters needing two body structures can't be knitted. That is, in order to knit a rib tissue the other cylinder should be used in the inside or on the upper side of the cylinder 10, but each color of knitting yarn of stand-by state in the inside is exposed and projected into the inside of the cylinder 10 therefore a second cylinder can't be inserted and installed in its inside. Fig. 2 is a view showing main structure of the single jacquard circular knitting machine according to the present invention. Referring to Fig. 2, the upper cylinder 62 is set additionally on the upper side of the cylinder 60 as showing in Fig. 3, and a part of the upper cylinder 62 is cut and opened on a circumference to form an opening entrance 58. A specific of knitting yarn is selected by a control signal of an electron controlling apparatus according to such structure and then the opening entrance 58 of the upper cylinder 62 stops on a corresponding position. And a guide 64 of a selected second knitting yarn enters the inside of the upper cylinder through the opening entrance, and in knitting the rib, is situated in the inside, is made as a pair with a first knitting yarn performing a knitting in the outside, comes and goes the opening entrance, and simultaneously performs the knitting. In order to perform such knitting, as showing in Fig. 2 the needle applied to the present invention is needle of both heads having heads on both sides. By such structure the needle operates up and down by a cam movement of the outer circumference face of cylinder according to a specific of control signal to perform the knitting, and thereby the knitting structure is completed.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of the single jacquard circular knitting machine according to one embodiment of the present invention. The structure and the position of the upper cylinder 62 appear in Fig. 3, and a knitting part and the needle as an enlarged state appear in an enlarged view of Fig. 4. From Cl to C16 in Fig. 3 appear the guide of respective knitting color yarn. Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view showing main part of a second cylinder in the present invention and it provides an input/output principle of the knitting yarn guide 72 through the opening entrance 58 of respective knitting yarn. As showing in Fig. 5, the knitting yarn guides 64 and 72 are formed so that the projection part may be guided along a passage 84 formed as a channel shape on a cam supporter 80 of a circular plate shape which is set on the upper side of the upper cylinder 62. In the knitting the position of the knitting yarn guides on the circumference is fixed, and according to a control of program the opening entrance 58 of the upper cylinder stops towards specific of knitting yarns, as COLOR A3 and COLOR A4 in Fig. 5, and then the cam supporter 80 rotates to control the input and the output of guides 72 through the opening entrance 58. When the projection part 82 of guide passes through a passage "A", the guide 72 is propelled in the center direction and a vertical guide 64 enters the inside of the upper cylinder 62 through the opening entrance. When the projection part 82 of guide passes through a passage "B", the guide 72 goes back and the vertical guide 64 goes out to the outside of the upper cylinder 62. In the above though the guides 72 has the structure so as to be propelled by the cam, it can be propelled by the fluid (for example, air or oil) pressure cylinder well-known.
Fig. 6 is a view showing a rotating form of the upper cylinder 62 in the present invention. The upper cylinder 62 doesn't rotate continuously only in one side direction but rotates reciprocally in both directions to perform the knitting. It is natural that at this time, the lower cylinder 60 rotates in one body with the upper cylinder 62. The rotating angle of one direction of the cylinders 60 and 62 can be decided freely, but angle degrees from 360 to 720 are preferable.
Operations of the single jacquard circular knitting machine according to the present invention are performed as follow. Sweater knitting starts from the rib 78, and in the rib knitting, the opening entrance 58 of the upper cylinder is opened towards the specific of knitting yarn guide 72 according to the program control of a given jacquard design. And also according to the turning of the cam supporter 80 a pair of two selected vertical knitting yarn guides 64 comes in and goes out reciprocally the opening entrance 58, and the knitting yarn is supplied to the knitting operation of both heads needle 70 from the knitting yarn guide outlet 56 so that the knitting may be performed by a general knitting progressing. At this time the up and lower cylinders 62 and 60 rotate reciprocally in both directions in equal angles simultaneously, to perform the rib knitting, and the needle 70 goes and returns upwards and downwards between the down and upper cylinders to perform the knitting by operating with one knitting yarn in going down and to perform the knitting by operating with the other knitting yarn in going up. Thereby, the rib 78 knitting with a good elasticity is completed by knitting as double structure of the interior and exterior.
In performing the above operation the standing-by state yarns exposed and projected into the inside of the lower cylinder don't cause an interference with the upper cylinder 62. This is why all knitting yarns are guided by the guide and are situated in the inside of the upper cylinder, and also why only specific of knitting yarn to be knitted at present goes out and comes in inside and outside the upper cylinder 62 through the opening entrance 58 to perform the operations. What such structure is available is why it is a changed structure, namely from the structure that the needle part performs the knitting by standing abreast two bodies looking out towards the upper part to the structure that the both heads needle is used and one body as the cylinder is a structure of putting it face down so that the needle part looks out towards the lower part.
After completion of such rib knitting, the upper cylinder 62 is lifted up about 3-5 centimeter by a separate oil pressure cylinder propulsive device not shown in Fig. and only the lower cylinder 60 operates to perform the single jacquard circular knitting. It will be apparent that a construction of the fluid (for example, air or oil) pressure cylinder propulsive device can be constructed easily by those skilled in the art. In accordance with the present invention as above¬ mentioned, by knitting sweaters with the single jacquard knitting in the circular knitting machine, there are innovatory effects that the producing amount increases more than treble and color kinds can be increased more than several times. Also there is an effect that the loss of standing-by knitting yarn can be lessened. The single jacquard circular knitting machine for the intarsia knitting according to the present invention can be used not only for each kind of general knitting but also for all kinds of single jacquard sweaters knitting. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made in the single jacquard circular knitting machine of the present invention without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention cover the modifications and variations of this invention provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
